Rising Stars: Meet Shane Maynor of Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Maynor.

Hi Shane, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 1988 I took a temporary job unloading trucks with a Herman Miller Furniture Dealership. The company grew exponentially from a 4 mil operation to a 70 mil operation. During my 16 yrs with the company I oversaw and ran numerus departments. That company in early 2003 filed bankruptcy, Upon the bankruptcy I hired back in with the bank to help liquidate the business. I attended the liquidation auction and purchased moving equipment and various items. At that point I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but knew I didn’t want to be employed by another furniture dealer. I was working 60 to 70 hours a week and knew it would be the same at another dealership. I had two young children at home and it was just a matter of time I would be coaching them in sports and was not interested in loosing those opportunities. The day before the auction, I thought I could just open my own business. I made a few phone calls, rented a warehouse, pulled an assumed name and went to work. Failure was not an option and hunger is a great motivator.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with any business there are 3 things you must have, no matter how large or small the business may be: People; Product and Process. If I have had any struggles it was keeping these 3 things in check.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a problem solver, I always have been. I love that I get to start each day with a blank piece of paper. I can do with that paper as I wish. My personal successes are found in the success of others. I love to elevate people, because with out the right people you cannot have a successful business. My business is office furniture sales and services. I deal in new and used furniture, cubicles including space design, installation and removal. Corporate relocations and liquidations. Repairs and services. All of your office furniture needs.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
People! Because with out them there is no successful business.
