Today we’d like to introduce you to Shevie Ross
Hi Shevie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello,
My name is Shevie Ross I’m originally from Barrett Station Texas The far Eastside of Houston, Texas. Growing up, I was pretty much quiet or being obnoxiously silly with my siblings and friends. I wouldn’t be able to fully introduce myself without mentioning my beautiful mother DeShundra Jones, who raised five brilliant children. Out of the five I was known as single because I was in the middle of two sets of twins. First it was my two older brothers Shannon and Sheldon, next it was me all alone. Then came my younger brother and sister Maygan and Morgan. We grew up just fine my mom did what she could and raised us to be respectable people. In 2014 I left home and went off to Wiley University where I would major in Mass Communication. I would go on to graduated on May 5, 2018 with a Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communication and an average GPA of 3.3. My dream was to graduate and hopefully intern and find a job working at a radio station and eventually start my own show. The intern part worked but Unfortunately, the radio job part didn’t. In 2018 I applied to be an intern for NOFB radio station in Grand Prairie while I was living in Austin, Texas. I ended up getting the internship and meeting what I would now call my mentor and friend Taylor Dynese. She gave me the opportunity to experience professional radio interviews and what it took to run a show. Every other Sunday I would faithfully drive from Austin to Grand Prairie back to Austin for hopes this would lead me in the right path. I did this for a few months and knew I could take what I learned and implement it in my own show. Two years later the tragic pandemic arrived and I took full advantage of everyone sitting at home on their phones and smart TVs to birth my Business Fo20tv. It wasn’t easy fully starting my business. At first I was in my head and pretty much just scared to fail. Not sure I will get the support I needed or it wouldn’t please my family and friends after I graduated college that this is what I’ll be doing. So what actually is Fo20tv? It’s an entertainment platform with a twist. Our content ranges from tutorials, interviews, and gaming videos across YouTube, Twitch, and all social media platforms. I started off shooting videos on my phone making as much content as possible. With consistency, hard work, and time I was eventually able to invest in better equipment. Now I can say I have interviews with popular artists like Bigxtheplug, MuddyManTony, Trap Fray, Ro$ama, Ali Almighty, Lil Pat the Nicest, K Breezy, Dee Dee Warbucks, Kemo Ginobli, and so much more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Just the thought of Fo20tv becoming the platform I envision brings real joy to my heart. The road to greatness doesn’t suppose to be easy and I wasn’t expecting it to be. Every obstacle in my journey I face head on and learn from it. Of course there have been some support struggles from the closest people to me because of their perspective on who I was supposed to be. But I believe in myself to the point where I’m delusional about Fo20tv working out and I’m doing it full time providing for my family while changing lives.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well you can say that I’m a street journalist gamer that loves music and time to think. I specialize in empowering and motivating people while at the same time having an active ear. I am the calm in the storm and I am most proud of Fo20tv. Something that was just a thought is now known as a media home for so many upcoming artists. This is something that I will be doing until I’m 70! So I know that alone separates me from the others.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Stay true to yourself no matter the doubters, no matter the haters, Believe in God and have faith in him and never let that faith waiver. Make patience and discipline some of your strongest assets and always have that Kobe mentality mindset.
