Rising Stars: Meet Sotm Jojo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sotm Jojo.

Hi Sotm, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have been recording for 6 going on 7 years now. It all started one night me and my cousin recorded 8 song mixtapes off a phone in 2016 but I had no intentions of taking it seriously back then. In 2019 I moved in with Wavy Vuitton and he had a studio that instantly took me back to my old ways. In 2020 I moved out of his house and got my own studio which forced me to start engineering myself while also perfecting my craft and building a fan base. Fast forward to 2022 I have found 2 more professional studio and really locked in. I have made 70+ songs in the new studios this year alone. While also performing live at multiple places, shooting multiple music videos, and telling my story on a podcast.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ll say the biggest struggle for me was staying consistent, promoting myself, and forcing myself to not sound the same every song and think outside the box and find new flows/ different styles of music. Another big obstacle I have faced was my granny being murdered back in 2020 but I learned to take that as motivation to go harder and tell my story through my music, a minor obstacle I had/have is realizing everybody doesn’t have my best interest and everybody doesn’t want to see me win how I want to see myself win.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a very known 16-year-old recording artist and audio engineer. I am mostly known for my music and how I can relate to my fans. I am most proud of how I have been staying consistent and networking all 2022 and knowing that this is just the beginning. I think my work ethic and my business mindset sets me apart from most artists and rappers. I feel like I’m at the point in my career where networking is important so as of right now if I see you are an artist serious about your work, I will work with you for no fee.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as having a long career and being able to stay relevant even when I’m 50. Success to me is also being able to pass down generational wealth and making sure my family is good 200 years after I’m gone.
