Rising Stars: Meet Stephanie Lemus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Lemus.

Stephanie Lemus

Hi Stephanie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Since I was young, I was always interested in the fashion space, and as I grew older, my fascination with skincare and beauty developed as well. Around 2013, I knew I wanted to start a blog and YouTube channel to showcase my daily outfits and share styling tips, but I didn’t know how to balance that with school and work. When I interned for Disney in 2015, I knew that was the perfect opportunity to start my YouTube journey, and around 2018, I decided to launch my blog. As time passed, I shifted my content to focus on Instagram and now TikTok but I just launched my substack and it feels great to write a blog again. I can’t honestly say it’s been a consistent journey but fast-forward to now, and I’ve worked with brands such as Armani Beauty, Kosas, Mejuri, Glossier, Beautycounter, and more.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can’t say it has been a smooth road, and I don’t think any journey truly is, but I’m thankful for the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Aside from navigating when to create content between work and my personal life, one of the biggest struggles is self-talk and perfectionism. When you’re creating content around yourself, it’s hard not to go down the road of criticism when editing or comparing yourself to other creators. There are times when I don’t want to put certain content out because it’s not “perfect,” but in reality, nothing is perfect, and that’s something I will always work on.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
While it may not seem that special in this day and age, I create content around beauty, skin, and realistic fashion. I’m minimal in my routines, and I love trying out new beauty products and providing *honest* reviews. When it comes to fashion content, I enjoy sharing simple and realistic outfits or tips for those who need a little inspiration in their wardrobe. Since I’m very intentional about who I collaborate with, I’m most proud of the brands I’ve been able to work with thus far.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is to just start and be consistent. Rather than spending so much time going back and forth on my content, I wish I had just put it out into the universe. Remember that community matters, and followers aren’t everything. If you want to work with a brand, tag them every time you talk about them and engage with their platforms. Yes, there may be hundreds of creators out there, but no one has your unique perspective.
