Rising Stars: Meet Sweta Patel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sweta Patel.

Sweta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
A little bit about me – I was born and raised in New Jersey and went to Pharmacy school. I went into pharmacy because it’s truly my passion to serve others. After getting married and having two children (both boys, 4 and 7), retail pharmacy wasn’t a viable option for me professionally, as I wanted to be there for my kids when they were young. Being a pharmacist was such a rewarding job –but I knew I wanted to do something different at this stage of my life that continued to fuel the passion of helping people. After moving to Texas, my husband and I were thinking about starting up a business that serves others, first and foremost. After learning about Tumbles and their mission to establish healthy lifelong habits for children early, it clicked. We knew this was the path for us.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like every new business, we have faced our fair share of trials and bumps. We had to navigate through the hiring process of finding the perfect fit for our business – with that comes a lot of gaps and unexpected no-shows, so that was a hard hill to have to overcome. We are fortunate to have found amazing employees that share the same vision growth for the business and love for working with children.

Building our presence and spreading the word about our new business has proven to be difficult as well. We are still trying to do better on this front so that the community knows we are here and ready to help kids grow and have fun!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As mentioned before, I have a doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm D). I graduated from the Earnest Mario School of Pharmacy in 2007. I worked in Manhattan as the pharmacy manager with Walgreens; I was able to make manager early on and was helping train new pharmacists along with overlooking more than 1 pharmacy to make sure it was operating smoothly.

I have a great skill and ability to help grow and teach individuals. I am patient and understanding while also being assertive and helping people achieve more. I pride myself on my ability to lead and form trusting relationships with people.

What matters most to you? Why?
I have a passion to help others in any capacity that I can. I was able to achieve this in my pharmacy career, and now I am able to help children and parents. I feel I have so much more to give, and if I can help or make a difference even to one person or family, then I feel like I have done my job.

I want to show my boys that helping others is just as important as helping yourself. It takes nothing to help someone, and it gives you back more than you know.
