Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarah Herrera.
Hi Tarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey to where I am today began with a spontaneous decision to move and take a job in Florida in the yachting industry. This opportunity not only led me away from Dallas and my family for the first time but also allowed me to find out who I was, and what I wanted to focus on since graduating college.
After living in Florida for a while, my boyfriend [now husband] and I returned home, and from the experience I had under my belt in Florida along with the connections I had made during my college years before my time in Florida, this led me to a role at a PR agency where I honed my skills for several years. I focused on social media management, event production, photography, graphic design and many more avenues within this industry that really helped me expand my capabilities.
Also during this time, I became involved in a fitness community, Fitness Ambassadors HQ where my talent for content creation was recognized. This led to a dual role as a social media manager alongside my full-time position!
After some time, I felt the pull to step away from the traditional 9-5 routine and pursue entrepreneurship. Fitness Ambassadors HQ became my first client, marking the beginning of my journey as a self-employed social media manager, a role I’ve proudly held for two plus years now.
Even after becoming a new mom as of October 2023, this has added another layer of fulfillment to my life, and I’m thrilled to continue pursuing my passion while embracing this new chapter.
Currently, I freelance with Lumos Creative while providing dedicated support to local clients like Fitness Ambassadors HQ and other side projects. I’m eager to expand my clientele further this year across different industries. I hope to re-enter the food industry, where most of my experience lies, as well as venture into the wedding industry for day-of content creation!
PS: If you need social media assistance, I’m your gal!”In addition to my current endeavors, I have exciting ventures in the pipeline that I can’t wait to share soon!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m delighted to share that thanks to networking and believing in myself, I’ve been fortunate to cultivate a robust support system, making the transition relatively smooth. Now, as the mother of a 5-month-old, balancing everything is challenging, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar. What can you tell them about what you do?
As a first-time working mother, I focus on areas such as social media marketing, event planning, and content creation, and as a UGC (User-Generated Content) creator, I specialize in capturing and showcasing my clients’ content in the most engaging way possible. I take pride in my work and am dedicated to delivering exceptional results.
Any big plans?
My family and I have exciting plans to venture into new business opportunities this year, ranging from an event rental business specializing in vintage and modern pieces all while continuing my love for social media marketing and content creation.
