Rising Stars: Meet Tia LaCaze

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia LaCaze.

Hi Tia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in the web chapel area, single-parent home, considered poor but would not trade my childhood for anything. My dream was to become a dancer but life happened, I got married, had kids and that dream died. I also wanted to be an actress but with a family, no support that dream was slowly dying as well… I got divorced and started all over. It was a struggle to get into the door so I did some modeling, made some waves then I met my husband Derek LaCaze, Black African American Author, Independent Filmmaker. He put me on the cover of his novels, together we made some short films and I got my foot in the door.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just life, having kids, a dead-end marriage, and very little support stood in my way… Then I married a man who supported me, loved me, and allowed me to grow. That alone help me do the things I could have done alone by with a partner, it made my life and path easier.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actress, a model, wife, a mother, and Co-Owner of LaCaze Films. I AM KNOWN for my role in the film Christmas on my block and the film Black Couples Fantasy. I am most proud of finally being in a loving marriage and a great mother.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the opportunities here in Dallas but hate the crime.
