Rising Stars: Meet Tiffany Jones-Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Jones-Lewis.

Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was fully 6’1” by high school. It was a pain to shop. I begin sewing when I was in high school really because I wanted to make myself pants that were long enough. It did not start out as a business but more so a problem I was trying to solve for myself.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been an easy road. I have had lots of issues with learning to create and design for Tall. Many manufacturers were not accustomed to making clothes at the length that we need. During COVID, I had many shipping issues. Losing money can make any business owner want to quit. I am really passionate about this community and have learned to just keep pressing forward the best way I can.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have always admired the city of New York as a kid. I loved the way I saw the city from a fashion point of view. Many people walk around so free and confident in who they are. I design for a woman who is sure of herself. She is not into trends but stands out by being classic and timeless. I use bold colors because at over 6 foot you will notice us so why not make it something beautiful.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I wish I knew to be patient. Many people want to rush the process but the foundation is the most important part. You must take your time creating designs and ordering samples. If it means that you have to wait another month to get a new sample made, it’s important that you do.

Do not rush the process and just go buy hundreds of pieces because they could all come wrong.
