Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Williams.
Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story has really been built on faith, determination, and refusing to let the hard seasons of life define where I was going.
I’m a wife, a homeschool mom of three girls, a business owner, and a completely self-taught tattoo artist. Art has always been a part of me, but tattooing became something much bigger than I ever expected. What started with practicing, learning, and putting countless hours into my craft eventually turned into Boundaries Tattoo Boutique—my own studio and a space where I get to create meaningful art for people every day.
Getting here definitely wasn’t a straight path. I’ve walked through divorce, starting over, motherhood, personal loss, and seasons where balancing my family and building a business felt almost impossible. I’ve also had to push through obstacles within the industry and even work to change local restrictions that stood between me and pursuing this career.
Instead of allowing those things to stop me, I used them as motivation. I spent countless nights practicing after homeschooling my girls during the day, taught myself through trial, research, and repetition, and slowly built a clientele that believed in me before I fully believed in myself.
Today, I specialize in feminine fine-line work, florals, ornamental pieces, and tattoos that often carry deeply personal stories. My business has grown beyond my studio into pop-ups, private events, weddings, and a licensed and insured mobile tattoo experience. Some events have allowed me to tattoo nearly 100 people in a single night, which still feels surreal when I think about where I started.
But the greatest part of this journey isn’t just how much my business has grown. It’s the relationships I’ve built, the clients who have become family, and showing my daughters what it looks like to create a life you’re proud of—even when you have to build it from the ground up.
I’m still learning, still growing, and still dreaming bigger. I don’t think I got here because of luck. I think I got here because I kept showing up, even when the road looked completely different from the one I originally imagined for myself.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been simply getting people to take me seriously.
I came into this industry as a completely self-taught artist, a woman, a mom of three, and a homeschool mom building a career around raising and teaching my children. I didn’t have the traditional path into tattooing, and there were people who questioned whether what I was building could really succeed.
I also faced restrictions in my own city that created very real barriers to opening my studio and pursuing tattooing professionally. Instead of accepting that the answer was no, I advocated for change and worked to change an ordinance that had been in place for years so I could legally build the business I believed in.
As my business started growing, the challenges didn’t disappear—they just changed.
I’ve had to navigate people recreating ideas and concepts I worked hard to develop, questions about my legitimacy, and situations where my business faced scrutiny and attempts to interfere with what I was building. There have been rumors, criticism, and moments when it would have been much easier to walk away. Those experiences taught me that when you’re doing something different and creating your own path, not everyone is going to understand or support it—and that’s okay.
Through all of that, I was still a mom first. I was homeschooling my girls during the day, taking care of my family, and building my business during evenings, nights, and weekends. There were plenty of exhausted days when I would finish school with my children and then turn around and work late into the night because those were the hours I had available to chase this dream.
Every obstacle has made me more determined and more intentional about how I run my business. Over time, I stopped feeling like I needed to prove myself through words and learned to let my work, my clients, my professionalism, and the growth of my business speak for me.
There have been people who doubted me, ideas that have been imitated, and doors that have been difficult to open—but I’m still here. I have my own studio, a growing clientele, opportunities I once only dreamed about, and three little girls watching their mom continue to show up even when things get difficult.
That’s ultimately what matters most to me. This journey isn’t about proving anyone wrong. It’s about proving to myself—and showing my daughters—that you don’t need everyone’s permission, approval, or support to build something meaningful. You have to believe in what you’re creating, stand up for it when necessary, and be willing to keep going when the path isn’t easy.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in feminine fine-line tattooing, with a strong focus on florals, ornamental designs, botanical realism, delicate script, and meaningful custom pieces.
Florals have become a huge part of my work, especially birth-flower bouquets and designs that represent children, family members, or important moments in someone’s life. I love taking something sentimental and turning it into a piece that still feels soft, feminine, and beautiful. Butterflies, vines, delicate botanical elements, and nature-inspired designs are also some of my favorite things to create.
Ornamental work is another area I’ve really fallen in love with. I especially enjoy creating pieces for the sternum, spine, hands, thighs, and other placements where I can design something specifically around the natural shape and movement of the body. I love combining fine lines, subtle dotwork, symmetry, and feminine details to create something that feels like it was made for that exact person and placement.
I also specialize in fine-line script and handwriting tattoos. Whether it’s a loved one’s handwriting, a meaningful phrase, names, dates, or tiny lettering, I love how something so simple can carry such a powerful story.
Memorial tattoos are particularly meaningful to me. I’ve had the opportunity to create pieces honoring parents, grandparents, children, pets, and other loved ones. Being trusted with something that personal is something I never take lightly.
My overall style is feminine, delicate, detailed, and sometimes a little funky. While fine-line work is what people recognize me for most, I love continuing to challenge myself with larger pieces, color, realism, and more detailed custom work.
Ultimately, I want my tattoos to feel like more than just a design someone picked from a page. I want them to complement the body, reflect the person wearing them, and tell a story they’ll be proud to carry with them.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My family is the heart behind everything I do. I have three beautiful daughters who are my entire world, and so much of the life and career I’ve built has been with them right beside me. Being their mom will always be my greatest role and greatest accomplishment.
I also have the most amazing rock of a husband. He supports me in every area of my life—not just my career and the crazy ideas I come up with, but as a mother, an artist, and simply as a person. Having someone beside me who genuinely believes in me, encourages me, and makes me feel safe enough to dream bigger has changed so much for me.
For a long time, I think I was simply surviving life instead of actually living it. I was always focused on getting through the next thing, taking care of everyone else, or trying to prove that I could make it.
Now, I finally feel like I’ve started to live.
I’m building a career I love, raising three incredible girls, experiencing life with my best friend beside me, traveling, creating memories, taking chances, and allowing myself to enjoy everything I worked so hard to build.
My life certainly isn’t perfect, but it’s beautiful—and I think that’s what makes this season so special. I’m no longer waiting for life to begin. I’m living it, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people I get to live it with.
