Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Nguyen.
Hi Tina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came from Saigon, Vietnam. My family moved here when I was 16, and now I am about to be 32 in May. I got to go to high school here in the US and also attended two years of college. Growing up, my biggest passion was always about fashion and beauty. After going to college for two years, not knowing what I would want to do, my fiancé Link encouraged me to go to beauty school, knowing that I was always passionate about hair and makeup. I listened to him, and honestly, I’m so glad that I did and I never looked back.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I went to Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy back in 2011. After I graduated hair school, I worked at a few salons for a little while before I started a family with two loving boys their name is Lincoln and Luke. Even though I was working in the salon full time, I decided to stay home with my babies because I didn’t want to miss seeing them grow up. And I still worked less than part-time as a freelancer hair and makeup artist, mainly for my hobby and passion. My career road hasn’t been as smoothly as I would love to, but I never regretted anything. It was not until last fall of 2020 that I decided to open my own salon suite. And I am located inside Salons by JC Southlake, suite 39 at 2801 E. State Hwy 114, Southlake 76092. My salon has been opened for five months now. I felt like it was a calling, now that my boys are older, they are 7 and 5, I wanted to do more and do my career with a purpose and meaningful. I want to help my clients and people to feel good and pretty not just on the outside but also on the inside as well. I’m almost like a therapist to all of my clients, lol. But really, ever since I opened my salon suite, I think that I’ve created a very inviting and comfortable environment for everyone that enters into my space, that they are comfortable enough to share with me their personal stories and struggle. I’m very good at listening and encouraging people. And since I’m so passionate about anything fashion and beauty, I always give my clients tips and tricks about hair, makeup and even fashion.
