Rising Stars: Meet Vaishnavi Datla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vaishnavi Datla.

Vaishnavi Datla

Hi Vaishnavi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey there! I’m a software engineer by day, and by night, I’m the culinary maestro behind ‘Bites of Hunger’; my food content haven on Instagram. I started Bitesofhunger as a way to put out my creativity and aesthetics through food I enjoy eating. I am someone who absolutely enjoys eating homemade food which is what motivated me to start cooking when I shifted to the US. I got to where I am today definitely through consistency, putting in a good amount of effort into creating quality content and of course my lovely BitesofHunger Family, whose love I always get unconditionally!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like for any social media platform, it’s very hard to know when or how a video blows up.  All I did was to consistently post quality content, which is useful for the audience & to have a LOT of patience. I also try to make this a fun journey as that’s the whole purpose of it, and not to make it a stressful one!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love my Indian food, and I eat Indian food on a daily basis; hence I wanted to showcase some of the recipes I cook at home, which I learned from my mom, through experimentation or online. I also want to use my platform to encourage the fact that cooking is a life learned skill irrespective of the gender. Both men and women should know cooking and for those who complain that cooking is hard or they don’t know cooking,  I post easy-to-follow recipes for that very reason! I get a lot of DMs from both women and men telling me how they tried out my recipes, they share their pictures of the dish they made and that they absolutely loved it. This makes me so so happy that my content firstly encourages both genders to cook and also that everyone loves how beginner friendly the dishes are!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Certainly, I believe that calculated risk-taking is an essential aspect of personal and professional growth. While I don’t shy away from taking risks, I approach them with a thoughtful and strategic mindset. In general, I view risk as an opportunity for innovation and improvement. This mindset has allowed me to navigate challenges and learn from experiences.
