Today we’d like to introduce you to Yasmine Gutierrez.
Hi Yasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi everyone, I’m Yasmine, also known as Espresso Brows, and I am a Licensed Brow & Lash Artist in Dallas, Texas. I was born in Oakland, California, and raised in Dallas, Texas. I started my career in the beauty industry when I was 19 years old, and I enrolled in Barbering School. My mother and sister being licensed cosmetologist influenced me to start my journey and join the family beauty salon business. Over the years, I shifted to the eyebrow industry and loved it! I was inspired by several brow artists in Los Angeles and decided to begin my Eyebrow career journey in 2020. While making this career change, I graduated from the University of North Texas at Dallas with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2019. I knew I wanted to follow my dream and specialize in eyebrows full-time, so I continued to work hard. I specialize in eyebrow wax clean-ups, laminations, lash lifts, and brow tint/dye. I help women achieve beautiful, natural, and perfect eyebrows. Being a brow artist has given me the opportunity to meet empowering and beautiful clients throughout the years. I love what I do, and I am so lucky to have loyal clients that continue to support my dream. A powerful mind can achieve anything. There’s definitely more growing and exciting news yet to come for Espresso Brows. Stay tuned, everyone ✨
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but never giving up and trusting the process is what keeps me going. At the beginning of my brow career, being disciplined and consistent was very important, especially on social media. Building clientele and staying busy took time. When Covid hit, the beauty industry was forced to close for 2-3 months due to the shutdown. I was not able to work for those two months, and this made me think so much about my business. Once I opened back up, I decided to start offering group trainings and 1:1 trainings for brow lamination and lashes. I started to promote classes, and I was able to train and teach women how to start their own brow & lash business. Teaching these classes made me realize how passionate I am in helping women achieve their goals and dreams. Being an entrepreneur and running your own business can be challenging, but managing your time and being responsible is key. Having a full-time job and also working as a brow artist for years in the beginning definitely was overwhelming. When I finally decided to quit my job and dedicate 100% of my time to my brow business is when I wished I would have done it sooner. Although my journey has not been perfect, I’m glad I overcame every obstacle, and if it weren’t for the mistakes I’ve made, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in brow laminations, lash lifts, brow wax clean-ups, and henna tint/ dye brows. I love enhancing natural beauty, and brow laminations & lash lifts give clients the opportunity to wake up feeling flawless! Brow laminations are ideal for clients that want to enhance the shape of their brows. A Brow Lamination can last between 6-8 weeks, depending on the thickness of the brows and aftercare. Lash lift is a perm for the lashes that will lift up and give you the “wet mascara” look. The perming effect will typically last 6-8 weeks. Brow tint/ dye is ideal for those who want their brows to look more full, to help fill in gaps, or for those who simply want filled-in brows. The tint will last 7-10 days on the skin, and on the brow hair, it can last up to 3-4 weeks. If you are reading this and you’re ready to give any of these services a try, make sure to book your appointment with me! I am most proud of the growth in my work throughout these years but, most importantly, for the beautiful friendships I continue to create with all of my clients.
