Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuliana Rose.
Hi Yuliana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Everything started with going to a cookie class with some friends. We were planning a big activity at our church and the idea was that one of us can learn and then teach a cookie class at our activity, needless to say, we had a great time. we ended up getting someone else to teach a cookie class since we didn’t feel capable of doing so. 🤣 I remember coming home and excited to try it out but it was an epic fail since I don’t know what I did but the dough look different 😅 the next day I try again but this time the icing was looking weird so I spend lots of hours reading and watching videos on YouTube to figure the icing out and finally I found a recipe that has been my favorite. I started bringing cookies to my friends and finally, they were looking decent! My neighbor did my first order I was so excited to think that I could make money from my hobby. I am so grateful for her in believing on me!
After that first order I took the courage to do a business, I shared my cookie FB page on my neighborhood and they have been supporting my business since September 2019.
I truly have found a talent on making cookies working on them makes me happy, it’s art on a cookie.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started making cookies, I only had one child and working a part-time job, then I got pregnant with my second baby and it was wearing me out. Business was doing great but it was a lot to handle. After the birth of my second baby, I got into this big depression/anxiety that I had to take a break and to be able to keep a balance. I started taking less orders. I make an exception for the holidays since it’s a great opportunity to sale more. If it wasn’t for the support of my husband, I don’t think I would have been able to continue and to be where I am right now.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Baker. I own Sweet Rose Cookies. I make sugar icing decorated cookies all kinds of designs. I can’t even tell how many cookie cutters I have by now. I love baking my products fresh and given them my own style. Being born and raised in Guatemala I am proud of everything that I have been able to achieve in this country and the possibility to work from home and be with my family.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Family matters the most to me and I want my kids to be proud of their hardworking mommy. With patience, we all can achieve our dreams.
