Rising Stars: Meet Zolean Bruner of Duncanville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zolean Bruner.

Hi Zolean, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2013, I joined Sisters Network Dallas as a volunteer looking for a connection; I stayed because I found a mission that matched my passion. Serving now as President, I am proud to lead an organization where every leader is a volunteer united by the same ‘sister-to-sister’ bond.

I advocate for ‘Stop the Silence’—sharing my testimonies to inspire others and ensuring no woman has to face a breast cancer diagnosis alone. I leverage my personal journey to advocate for better access to mammograms and quality care across the greater Dallas area through the organization Sisters Network Dallas, Inc.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a survivor myself, leading others through their diagnosis means constantly revisiting my own journey.
Dealing with the loss of “sisters” in the fight is a profound emotional burden that requires immense resilience.

Because our entire executive team is volunteer-based, balancing professional lives, health maintenance, and the intensive daily operations of the chapter is a constant juggling act.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Volunteer for Sisters Network Dallas, Inc. – Current President – Logistical expertise to the chapter’s signature events, such as the 6000 Steps for Hope Walk and community health symposiums.

Self-Employed – Kingdom Affair Events and Travel Agent – Event Director of Events and Travel

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Dallas has a unique ability to host massive, record-setting events…this is perfectly reflected in how Sisters Network Dallas, Inc. organizes our local initiatives like the 5 K; 6000 Sisters 6000 Steps for Hope Walk right in the community every fourth Saturday in September each year.
