Selena Wilson of Houston on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Selena Wilson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Selena , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of building on my personal development. I have always invested into others and as of late, I’ve decided to put my full focus on becoming a better version of myself. I’m praying more, eating healthier, exercising and I feel wonderful. I believe that the best way to achieve success is to take care of yourself first. I’m mastering tunnel vision and only focusing the things that service my purpose. I’m not where I would like to be and most certainly not the person others once known me to be and I feel accomplished.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Selena Wilson an entrepreneur who is thriving in the transportation side of the supply chain currently. My company 2nd To None Logistics LLC, has opened up a pathway to financial literacy. I’m not only learning how to move fright from state to state but I’ve also introduced myself to investing. I’m leveraging my net worth by purchasing life insurance. I’ve started a Roth IRA and working on purchasing my first investment multi family property. Becoming an Owner Operator has been a catalyst for me to empower myself to later share my experience with others. I’m also working on my first book to empower those seeking to properly structure their business.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Several months ago I received a notification from my financial institution that I will be eligible for early buyout on the purchase of my truck used for my business. I felt empowered because I knew at that moment that I was committed to not only out right ownership of the equipment but I sacrificed and worked extremely hard to have the consideration for the opportunity. I have to constantly remind myself that no one is going to believe in me more than I wil and that is where I get my strength.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say. You are incredibly talented. Don’t allow anyone to devalue your intelligence because you are brilliant and resilient. Put yourself first and trust God in all that you do.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I am my authentic self 24 hours a day. I’m very public about some of my accomplishments and even my failures. I’m a loving person and I want that to always be remembered. I may not always share the same values as others but I’m considerate of everyone I encounter. I’m a no nonsense type of woman who stands strong on my living out my pursuit of financial freedom without any distractions to disrupt my progress.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I’m creating generational wealth. I’m purchasing assets and investing my money instead of making purchases that will depreciate in value. I’m building my personal credit and portfolio so I can have borrowing power to leverage my investments. I know over the next 3 to 5 years I will make stronger connections and with proper mentorship, be able to reach limits beyond my expectations.
