Story & Lesson Highlights with Abi Butler of Fort Worth

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Abi Butler. Check out our conversation below.

Abi, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Because my business has been built from home, I’ve found that sometimes there’s confusion on who I am and what I actually do. I can make a lot of things and have done a lot of one off orders for my customers, but what my main focus is now is to create beautiful stuffed animals for kids all around the world.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Abi American Designs is based out of my tiny home studio. In the past, I’ve created bags, quilts, leather and cowhide goodies. Today, my business is focusing on sweet stuffed animals. So far, we only offer show heifers and pigs, but we’re excited to see where this takes us.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I’m grateful for loving parents, who taught me from an early age, that I was just who God created me to be. They were proud of me whether I was making my bed, showing kindness to someone on the playground or creating a new game. I think the way they loved and accepted me from the very beginning shows how much they recognized my strengths and weaknesses long before I ever could have.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep pushing. Pray more and pray harder.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I have several people in my life that I truly admire.

My Nan and Paps have always been some of my biggest influences. They are wise, beautiful people and I want to be just like them. They passed the same characteristics to my sweet Mom and three sisters.

My husband, Koal, also shows me daily a selfless and caring love. He works above and beyond for our tiny family and I’m so thankful for him.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Forgiveness first. Life is truly so very short and we’re not promised tomorrow. Don’t let grudges and resentment hold you back from living life to the fullest!
