Story & Lesson Highlights with Asa Smith of North Ft Worth

Asa Smith shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Asa, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My most recent proud moment is seeing my son start his senior year of high school. I’m especially proud because he worked incredibly hard to come back from a season-ending injury last year. Watching him push through the challenges, stay disciplined, and get himself back into shape for this football season has been inspiring. His determination and resilience have been a reminder to me of what it means to never give up.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Asa and I am the owner of Ace’s Classy Creations. My business was inspired by my great-grandmother who I believed was the ultimate entrepreneur and crafter. Helping her when I was younger gave me the drive to tap in to my inner creativity. Ace’s Classy Creations is just that, different creations. We provided a variety of custom, uniquely personalized items for our customers for various occasions. Whether you are needing a shirt for a sporting event, a gift for a wedding, or something unique for your home, we got you covered. With it being back to school time and football season, we are working on custom orders for the Class of 2026 and those awesome sports moms and dads! Whether you are looking for just a single item or have a large quantity order, we would love to assist with making your vision come to life.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I had to pick a specific career and stick with that or put myself in a box. Everyone dreams of what they want to be when they are younger. While some stick with that dream of a career, others go through different challenges in life that pushes them down different paths. When I was younger I said I wanted to be a teacher. That changed for unknown reasons to wanting to major in computer science when I was going to college. That dream quickly changed, mostly because once I got in the classes it really didn’t interest me. It was more so the thing to major in at the time. My career path landed me in to healthcare and I became a nurse. I then tapped in to love of crafting. Crafting lets me be so much more and do so much more. I’m not putting myself in a box or limiting my abilities. Each order helps me to believe in myself a little more seeing that I can create SO many different things.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Feeling like I’m not good enough. Let’s be honest there is a crafter on every corner now. You are constantly looking at other peoples work and wondering if you can do it. Mentally you will sometimes psych yourself out. I found myself saying “I can’t do that” or “That looks hard.” Ultimately feeling like I’m not a good enough crafter to even attempt making that cup or creating a design. The “I’m not good enough” started to put me in a box of limiting myself to just T-shirts and not even attempting to try something new. You will never know what you can or can’t do if you don’t attempt to try. Shake off those “I’m not good enough” vibes and step in to your “I’m trying” vibes. You just might surprise yourself and in fact know that you are good enough and capable of doing it all!!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that my family and being a genuine person is what matters to me. I put my family above all things, especially my kids. I always joke with my close friends that we have to schedule out our time to hang out because my kids schedule is so busy. I’m genuine in celebrating the milestones of my family, cousins and my closest friends. I do for others what God places on my heart and look for nothing in return. I count all of my blessings and cherish all of the moments with the people I love. On the business side they know that I put my all in to each and every order to ensure that I’m providing the upmost customer service. They see the drive and passion that I have for what I do and I love that they genuinely support me in it all.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think my customers would miss my availability and my ability to “understand the assignment.” I have those customers that are always operating in crunch time and they know that I will get them taken care of. I have customers that trust me to bring their visions to life from just a drawing on a piece of paper. It’s the trust that has been built with my customers that I really take pride in and knowing that is something that can’t just be replaced.
