Story & Lesson Highlights with Beth Sovereign of Fort Worth

Beth Sovereign shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Beth, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Working on my inner self is a continuous life goal. Working to be happy, humble, kind, understanding, and giving while still maintaining a self preserving strength is a complicated balance. Working to realize the actions that I can affect within the realm of control helps me have peace with life as it happens.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My designers are passionate artists that create floral arrangements from a desire for joy. My team gains happiness from our designs and being included in couples special wedding days. We create out of love of flowers to see each unique design come together.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
My high school did not give me career counseling to help direct my future. I enjoyed a high school math accounting class, so decided to pursue accounting in college. That was not my knack, so I graduated with a degree in Marketing. After working in commercial finance where I obtained a Master’s Degree in Finance, my job was eliminated during a national financial downfall. I took a look at what I enjoyed at that job to direct my future, and realized that I enjoyed planning my company’s special events such as the company holiday and summer parties. From there, I found a mentor in the industry and on rolled my history!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are worth it. You are what you are trying to be. You are who you know you to be. Continue to choose your actions and reactions. Be kind in hard times. Be strong for yourself and others. Find opportunities to be giving. You are given the choice to be who you want to be, so try to choose love in all the small moments.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Humility is the greatest power that we can weld. The hardest strength is to be humble in times that we are wronged or sad. Fighting is easy, but creates division. Strength of humility is not allowing yourself to be walked over, but strength can be choosing kindness when that victory of kindness is greater than winning a small battle. Maintaining community and relationships can be more fulfilling.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Patience is not something that we have but something that we practice. Patience is something that we breathe in and release out in the hardest and most insane moments. Patience is not something that we grow in the easy times, but something that glows like a light bulb in tense moments. The wattage of the glow is chosen by us in each of those moments.
