Story & Lesson Highlights with Claire Crowe of Dallas Design District

Claire Crowe shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Claire, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I think you need both. Structure gives me momentum, but wandering, real open-ended flow, is where the creative magic happens. I’ve learned to carve out blocks of time for each, because switching back and forth too quickly kills both the focus and the spark. So I walk a path but I leave plenty of room to get lost.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi. I’m Claire Crowe, founder of Claire Crowe Collection. We are a team of designers and artisans dedicated to the art of handcrafted luxury, where time-honored techniques and inspired design come together to create heirloom-quality pieces. We design and create handcrafted metalwork elements that transforms spaces into favorite places. Our signature fireplace screens, wall sculptures, and lighting blend sophisticated design with artisanal craftsmanship, creating statement pieces that gain character and beauty with time. Each piece begins in our Texas studio, where skilled artisans form metal into organic forms that honor nature’s timeless patterns. The result: bespoke metalwork that adds sculptural elegance to living spaces.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before founding Claire Crowe Collection, I studied literature—drawn to storytelling, symbolism, and the quiet power of beautiful language. That love for meaning and detail stayed with me. The idea for the company came when we moved into our new home. It had warmth, character, and charm—except for the fireplace screen, which felt like an afterthought: cold, generic, and all wrong for the room.

I searched for something better, something with soul—and found nothing. That’s when it clicked. Why not create fireplace screens that were as intentional and artful as the rest of the home? That spark became Claire Crowe Collection: a studio dedicated to handcrafting metalwork that tells a story and belongs in the most beautiful rooms.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Years ago, I was venting to a former showroom owner about how no one could remember—or pronounce—my first business name: Hearth Art. He listened patiently, then gave me some advice I didn’t know I needed. “Why not just use your name?” he said. “Claire Crowe—it’s alliterative, memorable, and it’s you.”

It was a simple suggestion, but one I wouldn’t have been brave enough to act on without that nudge from someone I respected in the design world. I’m so glad I listened.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I’m constantly inspired by the master metalworkers of the past: their attention to detail; their patience,; their reverence for material and for the craft. We bring those old-world techniques into everything we do, layering in just enough modern technology to give the work a fresh point of view. But at the heart of it all is one guiding question: Will it stand the test of time? If the answer isn’t yes, we don’t make it.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I had just ten years left, I’d let go of almost everything—except time with the people I love, quiet walks in nature, deepening my spiritual life, and creating, purely for the joy of it. No deadlines, no pressure—just making things that feel meaningful, beautiful, and alive.
