We recently had the chance to connect with Colin Moseley and have shared our conversation below.
Colin, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about photography—my business—is the idea that a better camera automatically leads to better pictures.
In reality, great photography is about the subject and the photographer’s vision. It’s the photographer’s attention to detail, their understanding of lighting and composition, and most importantly, their ability to connect with the subject that truly brings an image to life.
The camera is just a tool—the real art comes from the person behind it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I am Colin, CEO of Imagery 7 Studios, a wedding and family portrait company in Mansfield TX. For me, photography is about more than images—it’s about love, connection, and the moments that matter most. Whether it’s the magic of your wedding day or the laughter of a family gathering, I strive to capture genuine emotions and create timeless photographs that tell your unique story. Every detail, every smile, every embrace deserves to be remembered, and my passion is turning those fleeting moments into lasting memories you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped me was the one I had with my uncle Arthur—someone I love deeply, respect greatly, and miss dearly. God rest his soul.
He played a major role in shaping the man I am today. Through him, I learned the importance of relationships—whether personal, professional, or spiritual. He taught me to be a man of my word, to hold myself accountable, and to never rely on just one stream of income.
He showed me the value of taking care of family, standing firm in the face of adversity—both physical and verbal—and always paying it forward by sharing life lessons with others. Those are the principles that shaped me.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I remember being sad and scared as a child—and even as a grown adult, those feelings would sometimes return. But what helped me through it all were the teachings and spiritual foundation my mother gave me.
She taught me about building a relationship with God and about the lessons of Jesus Christ. She showed me that Jesus is always present, especially in times of trouble. That He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. That He came to save me and died because He loves me.
Because of Romans 8:37 I now know I am more than a conqueror .
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
My cultural values are grounded in honor and duty. I value loyalty and protection, especially toward my family, community, and beliefs. Respect for others is essential to me—acknowledging the rights, dignity, and presence of others is not optional; it’s a must.
I place high value on respect for my home, seeing it as both a sacred space and a reflection of myself and my family. It represents my pride, care, and sense of responsibility toward my environment.
Spirituality and religious values are also central to my life. I express my gratitude and acknowledge my blessings daily, and I try to live by the belief that “cleanliness is next to godliness.” Maintaining physical cleanliness helps me strive for inner purity and personal discipline.
At my core lies my commitment to honesty, a foundational ethical value. I believe truthfulness is key to building trust, maintaining integrity, and fostering a strong, respectful social order.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me when I’m gone is this:
He was a stand-up guy who lived with integrity and faith. He trusted in God and inspired others to do the same. He encouraged and motivated those around him to be their best selves. He was relentless in his pursuit of his goals—a true go-getter. A visionary and a creative soul, he didn’t just dream—he acted, built, and left something meaningful behind.
