Story & Lesson Highlights with Dr. Lisa Cooney of Tarrant County

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Lisa Cooney. Check out our conversation below.

Lisa , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
since I am licensed as a therapist and hold a doctorate in psychology, I am lumped into the mental health field traditionally. I have never been a traditional therapist. These past 30 years, I have always blended the spiritual with the pscyhological balancing tried and true psychological modalities with spiritual and energy healing. My ministry is to free people from their limitations and that even is tailored to facing down long term issues that have been debilitating. I am in no way interested in people staying the same and not changing because they are in pain and the work that I have been graced with that comes through me lifts people out of the ‘stuckness’ and into freedom. The only caveat is IF the person is truly willing to face themselves with honesty, openness and willingness. No matter how long that takes, I am a guide that is always available for whatever the person is ready for in that moment. The gift for me is knowing that when they say YES, we can go somewhere that can eliminate the struggle period!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Experience personalized, heart-centered sessions that meet you where you are. Through therapy, coaching, and somatic work, Soul Sessions help you release what holds you back and embrace your fullest potential.

Dr. Lisa is the first therapist I’ve had who really gets me and helps me make progress in my emotional health goals. I never would have thought I could have this close and impactful a relationship with a therapist online, but Dr. Lisa is a total pro. I cannot recommend her highly enough, she has helped me to achieve better mental health than I dreamed was possible.

Dr. Lisa is simply amazing. She knows just how to get to the heart of an issue and doesn’t shy away from telling you what you need to hear (even if it’s not what you want to hear).

Truthfully, the spiritual energy that has been uniquely a superpower for me in my ministry guides all I do with whomever i am working with Live Or Online, local, domestic, or international. My ministry is to contribute period.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Dr. Judy Primavera, my senior year of college in a Family Violence Seminar, pulled me aside one day after class and asked me, ‘Lisa, are you ok?’ It wast the FIRST time anyone reached out to me and asked me directly because they noticed of course that I was NOT ok. It was a moment of pure compassion and kindness and it is the energy that drives my work til this day, thirty three years later. That one moment of heart centered awareness is why I do what I do.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I was living in San Francisco in my twenties and I was drinking to drown what I now know was C-PTSD. I was blinded and under my trauma, my mind was twisted and the ‘voices’ I was hearing was to end my suffering. I stepped out in front of a bus, saw the lights, heard the horn, then felt a hand on my shoulder pulling me back to the sidewalk, I awoke out of my slumber and noone was there. It was THAT moment that changed everything for me. I got sober and still am, I healed my trauma, I committed to finding solutions to that which I was suffering from and I committed to being in service of all those God sends to me to contribute too. I figured I was still alive so there must be a higher purpose for me and fast forward 33 years and here I am still doing what that moment taught me.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Maria Shriver period, full stop. She’s real, authentic and deeply caring and heart centered. I respect her work, her struggles, her history and how she continues to move humanity forward and presents all sides and gets to the heart of the issues. A real humanitarian warrior.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Someone that consistently shows up and cares and listens to ALL the ruminations and offers guidance, hope, love and compassion, whilst balancing all energy centers and neuro net pathways whether aware or subtle. Caring is a Gift, service to well being is a basic civil right, and YOU deserve ALL good not some not a little but ALL good.
