Dr SOPHIA RAHMAN shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
SOPHIA, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Traveling has brought me so much joy these past few years. Immersing myself in other cultures has brought me perspectives that I never really truly thought of before. It’s funny but before I travel, I scroll thru tik-tok to see rules about respecting the culture. For example, Italians hate it if you order cappuccino after 11am 🙂
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dr. Sophia Rahman, a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician based in Plano, Texas, where I run my own practice that blends primary care with innovative aesthetics and weight management.
My days are a good blend of health and beauty: managing chronic medical conditions, helping patients achieve healthy weight goals, and offering advanced treatments like radiofrequency microneedling, laser resurfacing, and hair restoration.
I don’t just treat numbers on a chart, I focus on helping people feel healthy, confident, and empowered in their own skin. Whether it’s keeping diabetes under control, restoring a youthful glow, or guiding sustainable weight loss, I believe medicine is at its best when it makes people’s lives both longer and better.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother saw me clearly long before I saw myself. She’s always recognized my strengths and pushed me to grow into them, even when I doubted them. A lot of the confidence I carry into my work today is rooted in her belief in me. I’ve fallen down many times in my life and my mother is always there to encourage me to pick myself up and move forward.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes — in 2020-2021, I went through one of the most difficult times of my life. I lost my unborn child in December, and my marriage ended 9 months later. It was a season that could have broken me, but instead it became the turning point that pushed me to rebuild, redefine my purpose, and grow stronger for myself and for my patients.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what matters most to me is people. I focus on really seeing them, caring for them, and helping them become the best version of themselves. Whether it’s my patients, family, or friends, I invest deeply in those connections. They’d also tell you I value integrity, faith, and a good laugh to balance it all out.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m connecting with my Creator. It centers me and reminds me of the bigger purpose behind everything I do.
I find that same sense of peace when I’m traveling: while I’m sitting at a cafe people-watching, relaxing by the ocean, or wandering through a marketplace in a new city.
Both faith and travel give me perspective, gratitude, and a deeper connection to the world and the people I serve
