We’re looking forward to introducing you to Elizabeth Mason. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is waking up, spending time in the Word of God and doing lessons with my kiddos after breakfast. We may go somewhere with friends and get outside to explore then we come back home and I work on commission pieces and/or answering messages for live painting inquiries.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a watercolor artist and live event painter in North Texas that specializes in doing watercolor portraits anywhere from pets to memory paintings of a loved one that’s since past away. I believe there is beauty found in the everyday of our lives. Often times that begins in the home. I adore getting to paint other’s memories for them. God has blessed me with being able to do so for a living and I can’t wait to see where the next decade takes me!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
A relationship that’s most shaped how I see myself is honestly my relationship with Christ. I tend to limit myself and abilities and, once surrendered, there’s something beautiful in knowing you are His and He is able to use the gifts you’ve been given far more in surrender. My walk with Christ has been sanctifying and beautiful and hard and stronger with each monumental moment in life.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Fear of failure held me back most of my life. One day it occurred to me though, “What if I spent my whole life keeping my faith at arm’s length rather than trusting that God could do far more than I have for myself if I take the leap of faith and just do it?” I didn’t want to look back on my life and think “what if I would’ve just tried?”
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
The truth that God has before and always will work for good whatever craziness life will bring. I’ve seen it time and again and how much more He does with little than I ever could. When everything else seems unsteady, He’s always been a Rock for me.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What false labels are you still carrying?
Your work has to look a certain way or you have to stay relevant with the posting of others on social media in order to be successful. I’m finding the beauty in simplicity and leaning into the position of motherhood and leading my children that I’ve been placed in.
