Story & Lesson Highlights with Frederick Flores of Dallas

Frederick Flores shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Frederick, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I am currently involved with a Pirate band that perform shows at Texas public libraries for young children. Nothing makes me feel better than seeing the fun and joy on their faces as we perform songs.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Good day. My name is Capt. Jack, The Rum Runner. I am the guitar player (and the one in charge) of a musical 3-person Pirate Band called ” Pair of Pirates”. Yes, we know.. Pirates were never that good at math! We started this venture 4 years ago and our main focus is performing to children, mainly the Texas public libraries.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Early on in life I was that shy guy that everyone made fun and felt like I didn’t belong. This continued even thru High School. I moved away and spent a lot of time by myself. I pushed myself with different tasks that I thought were not possible. This strengthened me and my spirit to be able to do anything I put my mind to.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
” It doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks, Believe in yourself!”

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, it is. My character, traits, humor and love are all the same in public.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
My only regret is that I didn’t find out who I was earlier in life.
