We recently had the chance to connect with Jessica Maeve and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Aloha! I am definitely a wandering path. Although my life has a lot of structure, it also has many detours and side quests. I really enjoy being a creative and feel blessed to explore and adventure where I want to go.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I like this question because I have new music coming out, and it relates to the music. To start, I’d like to think that all life experiences should be shared so that we learn from each other and also reflect on who we are. My music that is releasing this summer is based on life experiences that I have gone through and what others have also gone through. I’ve been holding onto some of these tunes for a decade now, and they are finally being released on July 11 and August 1. To put a long story short, these songs are what got me through some tough times and are now ready to be enjoyed. I’m super excited for y’all to hear my EP called, “Ghost of You”. This EP is all about who you once were, or who they once were (someone in your past). These are probably the saddest lyrics I’ve ever written, and I hope y’all will be able to feel the emotion behind each song.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! I almost gave up on my dream which is to perform and be a musician. I studied healthcare in college and switched to music education after a year. After several years of being a teacher during the pandemic, I realized I still wasn’t doing what I wanted to do with my music even though I was in the music field. My music journey to become the artist I am today took a long time, but I love what I’m doing now! Of course, the narrative “I wish I started earlier” always comes to mind. I’m sure a lot of you reading can relate. But enjoy where you are now if it’s where you were meant to be, no matter how long it took!
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
Perfection. I think a lot of times we are scared to be seen, especially in today’s world, that we hide the parts of ourselves that make us unique. A lot of creators I’ve met started out this way and are still coming to terms with just posting their content even if it’s not their vision of perfect. Nothing in this world is perfect. I, myself, am still working on just posting what I filmed even if it’s not the vision I was going for. I believe there is an audience for everyone and people will still vibe with what you put out there even if you see all of the mistakes.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I think I will regret not sky diving. I really want to do that before I kick the bucket for sure.
