We recently had the chance to connect with Magdiel Sagastume & Adriana Sagastume and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Magdiel & Adriana, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I was at a wedding venue open house on Sunday, and I felt so tired and worn out. I’d just shot weddings on Friday and Saturday and barely had any rest. I kept asking myself, “What am I doing here? I should be home resting.” Then out of nowhere, my 12-year-old son texted me: “Papi, thank you for working so hard for us. When I grow up, I want to be a hardworking man like you to take care of my family.” That message was like fuel—it gave me the energy to finish the event. I always feel love from my wife and kids, but that day I needed it most, and my son’s text brought me back to life and reminded me of my purpose.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there! I’m Magdiel, co-founder of Magdiel Photography & Films here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and I get to do what I love every single day—telling love stories through photos and films. Alongside my wife Adriana, we’ve spent the last nine years capturing over 400 weddings. What makes us unique is that we’re a husband-and-wife team: you get two artists who truly know each other’s style, working seamlessly together to create a relaxed experience and timeless images that feel authentic to you.
Our approach blends classic documentary with cinematic flair—think natural moments, heartfelt laughter and those little in-between glances, all edited with a timeless, true-to-life style. We love love—it’s at the heart of everything we do, and we’re passionate about preserving those genuine moments so you can relive your story for generations.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
No doubt it was my wife, Adriana, who saw the real me before I could see myself. When we first met, I felt like nobody with nothing to offer. We began as friends and spent five years growing together. She knew we’d have to build everything from scratch—and all along, she believed in me even when I had nothing to give.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I come from a small town in Honduras where we had no electricity and no clean water at home, and we moved many times when I was very young. Life was very hard, so I learned early on to make the most with what I had. Growing up in extreme poverty, I knew I didn’t want that life for myself. With nothing to lose, I was ready to risk it all to find a better path. My dream became to one day have a family and give them a life much better than mine. Along the way, I learned to be content with very little and to treasure every blessing God gave me.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my parents — though they weren’t perfect, they taught me integrity and honesty from a very early age. My dad, regardless of the circumstances, always lived with unwavering integrity, and my mom never gave up on keeping me and my siblings on the right track.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m home with my wife and kids. My wife is the part of my life I can’t live without. In our 16 years of marriage we’ve been through really hard times—she had every reason to walk away, but God helped us fight for each other and grow stronger as a couple. When I’m out working or traveling, all I want is to come back home to them. I don’t party, I don’t go out with friends, and I don’t look for time alone—my home is my oasis, and I truly cherish it.
