Story & Lesson Highlights with Moesha Modjulua of Dallas Texas

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Moesha Modjulua. Check out our conversation below.

Moesha, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
My ministry / bible study group with my community and GOD!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
At just 18 years old (i am now 24) I’ve been blessed to walk a unique path that combines both my passion for food and my faith. I began my journey as a young chef with a love for Cajun and Creole cuisine, turning that passion into a thriving restaurant business where I shared the rich flavors of Southern cooking with my community. Cooking has always been more than just food to me—it’s about bringing people together, creating memories, and serving with love.

Now, God has called me into a new season. While I continue to cherish my roots as a chef, I am stepping forward in faith to build a Bible study ministry. My mission is to create a space where people can be spiritually fed just as much as they are physically—connecting through scripture, fellowship, and purpose.

I believe both cooking and ministry share the same heart: serving others. Whether through a comforting meal or the Word of God, my goal is to nourish souls, uplift lives, and be a vessel of God’s love.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has been the foundation of who I am and how I see myself. Even as I pursued my passion for cooking and achieved the dream of owning a restaurant at a young age, I always knew there was something greater that God was calling me to. Deep down, I understood that my gifts and talents weren’t just for my success, but for serving a bigger purpose.

Walking with God shaped the way I viewed myself—not just as a chef or entrepreneur, but as someone chosen for more. My identity isn’t rooted only in what I can create with my hands, but in what God is creating through me. That realization has led me into ministry, where I now embrace my calling to help others grow in their faith, just as God continues to grow me in mine.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were seasons in my life when the weight of pain and loss almost made me give up. One of the hardest moments was losing my daughter, Dior, at such a young age. I couldn’t understand it, and I didn’t know how to cope. My faith felt shattered. I shut myself off from the world because I didn’t want to face my feelings—I didn’t even know how to process them. It was a dark place, and I couldn’t see myself in a clear light.

Another time I almost gave up was when we lost our restaurant in 2023. After pouring so much of myself into building something from the ground up, losing it all left me broken. We went completely broke, and it felt like every ounce of effort and sacrifice had been for nothing. I questioned my purpose, my future, and even my worth.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
For a long time, I thought I could live my life without God. I believed if I just worked hard enough, believed in myself enough, and pushed through on my own, I could make it. That mindset is what so many people fall into today—putting all their faith in themselves, chasing success, and thinking they don’t need God.

But I’ve learned the truth: we can’t do life without Him. Our own strength runs out, our own plans fall apart, but God’s power and purpose never fail. Believing in yourself might get you so far, but only believing in God gives you eternal life, real peace, and the strength to endure when life feels impossible.

Now I know I don’t just need God—I depend on Him for everything.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the deepest sense of peace in two places: when I’m in the kitchen and when I’m in the Word. Cooking has always been more than just food for me—it’s therapy, it’s joy, it’s where I can create and pour love into something that blesses others. In those moments, I feel calm, focused, and connected to the gifts God placed in me.

And then there’s the peace that comes from being in my Bible. That’s a different kind of stillness—one that goes beyond feelings and fills my spirit. Reading scripture grounds me, reminds me of who I am in Christ, and gives me direction when life feels uncertain.

Both cooking and scripture are places where I meet God—one through the work of my hands, and the other through the truth of His Word. Together, they keep me centered and remind me of the purpose He’s given me.
