Peter Kreta shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Peter, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I like to wake up early and enjoy the peace and quiet before my girls get up. I’ll hydrate and head into the sauna for 45 minutes. I like to just be in there and start thinking about a new DJ routine or an edit I’m putting together. From there, I’ll do a cold plunge (at least 3 minutes). This is the hardest part of my day. The cold water. It gives me confidence knowing I can tackle anything that day, even if it may be uncomfortable. Whatever challenge the day brings will be easier than the cold water! I feel refreshed and my mood is super positive. Ready for anything.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I DJ full time for LeForce Entertainment in Dallas. I am also the Director of Talent, which has been an incredible experience so far. I love finding ways to relate to our team and encourage our DJs to better themselves and keep their skills sharp. I feel like all of my life experiences have led me to this point, and I’m in a position where I can really be myself and grow rapidly with amazing talent surrounding me.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I remember climbing to the top of the play structure and jumping off each bar into the playground in preschool. I felt like I could climb anything and being airborne was such a thrill. There wasn’t any part of the playground too scary for me to stand on top of. That was awesome.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. Each time I enter a DJ battle or competition I always feel like I want to back out. This is part of it. Win or lose, completing the goal of putting a routine together is the greatest sense of accomplishment knowing that I faced my fears and left it all out on the stage.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
There is so much push for more, more, more. Take a second and be thankful for where you are. Enjoy the people around you and be grateful. To me, it’s okay to just take it easy and reflect. There will be more, but what is it all for if you never take the time to enjoy what you’ve worked for? That’s my thing. I like to enjoy what I have before it’s gone.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I just hope people will say that I treated them well, I made the most of each moment, and I hope they pay it forward with a smile.
