We’re looking forward to introducing you to Pourtia Deal. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Pourtia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I’ve felt the most loved in the moments when life slowed down enough for me to really see who was standing beside me; not for my talent, not for what I could do for them, but for the parts of me that aren’t always on display. Friendships, relationships, and even moments in my career have shown me a kind of love that felt gentle and intentional.
But if I’m being real, there was a time when I didn’t think I deserved it. I’ve spent so much of my life in survival mode that being poured into felt unfamiliar. Over time though, I’ve learned that the love I receive isn’t charity, it’s reflection. It’s people responding to the way I show up for them, the resilience I carry, and the heart I put into everything I do.
Now, when I feel loved, I let myself believe I deserve it, because I’ve grown into the kind of woman who does.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey I’m Pourtia or Peezy, the hands and heart behind PND Tattoos. My style is a blend of pop culture influence, bold linework, and soft storytelling; the kind of art that feels alive on the skin. PNDTattoos started as a dream and grew into a brand built on consistency, creativity, and a vision I protected even when nobody else could see it. What makes my work special is the connection I build with my clients. Every tattoo session is more than ink; it’s energy, storytelling, and trust. I create in a space where people feel seen, safe, and inspired. That’s the heartbeat behind PNDTattoos.
Right now, I’m expanding my portfolio, creating digital products, and stepping deeper into content creation and community work; from tattoo education to events with youth organizations. My mission is to show that art can be healing, empowering, and life changing, both for the person wearing it and the person creating it.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My sister saw me clearly long before I ever saw myself. She wasn’t just a sibling; she stepped into a motherly role in my life without ever hesitating. She’s been by my side through every chapter, every mistake, every win, every rebirth.
When I doubted my art, she spoke to my potential. When I felt small, she reminded me of my strength. She looked at me with this steady, unconditional belief like she already knew the woman and artist I was growing into, even when I couldn’t imagine her yet.
Her love didn’t just guide me; it raised me. It grounded me. It gave me a foundation to build everything else on. So much of who I am today exists because she held that space for me, protected me, and loved me into the version of myself I finally get to live in.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that anything is possible for her, more than she could ever imagine. I’d tell her to breathe, stand up a little taller, and step out of that shyness sooner.
Back then, I was so quiet that the thought of speaking in front of people felt like a panic attack waiting to happen. I didn’t know I had a voice worth hearing. I didn’t know I’d grow up to lead workshops, guide other artists, and stand confidently in rooms I used to shrink away from.
I’d tell her, ‘You are not small. You are becoming. And one day, you’re going to walk into spaces you once feared and own them.’
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my best friend Makayla aka Jug @xxclusiveee_ for her spirit. Her soul is one of the purest I’ve ever encountered. She moves through the world with a kind of softness that doesn’t always get seen but is always felt, eventually.
She has this warm, magnetic spirit that lights up a room without even trying. And the way she loves… it’s different. I’ve watched her pour into people even after they’ve hurt her, not because she doesn’t see it, but because her heart is wired for compassion.
Her character reminds me that real strength isn’t loud or forceful, it’s the quiet ability to stay gentle in a world that tries to harden you. She inspires me to show up with sincerity, grace, and loyalty the same way she always has.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think the biggest misunderstanding about my legacy will be the idea that I had a whole team behind me. I had love, I had support, but I didn’t have help in the way people might assume.
Everything I’ve built; my career, my brand, my voice; I had to grind for. I had to teach myself, push myself, and bet on myself when nobody was handing me blueprints or shortcuts.
People will see the results and think it came easy, but the truth is my legacy is made of late nights, self-discipline, and a vision I refused to let go of. It wasn’t handed to me… I carved it out with my own hands.
