We recently had the chance to connect with Sadé Wooten and have shared our conversation below.
Sadé , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, I really enjoy spending time with my family. Most weekends you’ll find me watching my younger son play soccer and cheering on my oldest at his football games. Family time is really important to me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Sadé Wooten, a licensed esthetician of 8 years, holistic healer, and founder of NovaSkin27. My passion for beauty started early! My mom had me in pageants and modeling as a young girl, and by grade school I was already designing clothes. Creativity and beautifying have always been in my blood, passed down through my family.
But my true calling came through my mother’s journey. She battled sarcoidosis and asbestos-related illness, and I wanted to create products and treatments that could bring her comfort. When she passed on November 27, 2010, I named my brand NovaSkin27 in her honor. Everything I do is rooted in her influence, my love for people, and my faith.
Today, I’m proud to be a mother of two amazing boys, a woman grounded in spirituality, and what I like to call a “well-rounded beautifier.” My goal is always to help people feel good inside and out, and I’m grateful for everyone who trusts me with their care.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person who saw me before I saw myself was definitely my mom. She recognized my gifts and creativity early on, putting me in pageants, modeling, and supporting me when I started designing clothes as a little girl. Even through her own health challenges, she taught me the importance of confidence, beauty, and resilience. She always reminded me that I had something special to offer, even before I believed it myself. That foundation shaped the woman and professional I am today.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t have to have it all figured out right now. The gifts you feel inside of you are real, and they will make room for you. Give yourself patience and grace, because everything you’re going through is shaping you into the woman you’re meant to become.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that beauty has to fit into one box! That there’s only one standard of skin, body type, or look that defines ‘beautiful.’ Another lie is that quick fixes or harsh treatments are better than consistency, education, and care. In reality, beauty is individual, and real results come from balance, patience, and understanding each person’s unique needs. I think our industry thrives when we stop selling perfection and start focusing on healthy, attainable, and confident beauty.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I made them feel seen, valued, and cared for, just like my mom always did for me. That I used my gifts in beauty and creativity to inspire confidence, nurture growth, and leave a positive mark on those around me.
