Story & Lesson Highlights with Samuel Gegen of Preston Hollow

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Samuel Gegen. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Samuel, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I am a creature of habit! I wake up at 5 am and give myself space in the morning to meditate, journal and have a cup of coffee. I love the peace and space early in the day because it’s calm and before the day gets hectic and crazy. After I have the silence I slam my pre-workout and then head to the gym to lift some weights. Gives me all the energy and centering for the day!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is Sam and I left corporate in May 2023 to build something special. I didn’t know what it looked like at the time but wanted to help others. I then create The Wealthy Business Creator! A brand to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses and sell their services. I want to help them find financial freedom doing what they love. There is a lot more to it than that and I offer a lot of services but we can start there!

I love to help others “go for it.” There’s been some things in my life where I just went for it and it ended up being very rewarding. I quit drinking alcohol in 2016, got into sales in 2014, got into leadership in 20117, uprooted my life and moved to Dallas in 2022 and left corporate in 2023.

I want to be a leader and show people that what they want to do is very possible!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment for me was when I was 27 and working as a research assistant. I had $100k in debt and wanted to get rid of it. I knew no one was coming to save me so I had to save myself. I found a sales job to make more money. Year 1 I doubled my income. 2016, I quit drinking alcohol and my whole life turned around. In 2019, I paid off the last of my debts in 5 years because I took control and ownership of my life. It was so powerful and inspiring to see what I could do and what I was capable of. I knew this was just the beginning.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! A few times. There was a time when I was about a year in business and I was like “What am I even doing?” I felt like no one understood me and I felt like I was alone. I pulled over on the side of the street while it was raining and started crying. I got some comfort food and asked the universe for a sign. The next day I saw one of the best entreprenuers randomly appear in front of me at Lifetime Fitness, Mark Cuban! I ran into him in the locker room and he happened to be giving a little speech about sticking with it and that it will happen if you keep going. What a sign! I took it and kept going and it worked out for the best as I trusted it would.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to invest and hoard my money more. Yes, it helped me become financially free and not have to work after I left corporate but money is energy. You need to invest it. Pay up. Invest in your business, your growth, coaches, courses, whatever it takes to get it done. Entrepreneurship is hard but there are people and resources that can help you. I invested $4,000 in a coach and got 10x that investment back with her help. It works and is necessary. I will have a coach and mentor for the rest of my life at all times.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
None of this matters. We are out in the middle of the universe floating on a rock. Not to get too hippie on you but it’s a good reminder to build your legacy but have fun. Take the trips. Love hard. Do the things that light you up. It’s why I left corporate. I wanted to give myself and my vision a shot because I am not going to be the one that gets to the end of their life regretting anything. I am going to do it.
