We recently had the chance to connect with Sarah Marshall and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
To not sell my self short , knowing my value and what I can bring to the world and being confident in it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sarah Marshall, I’m a 29 years old content creator my main content is Natural Hair , but I’m working towards other content as well.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Being a people pleaser , it’s a huge difference from creating content for my audience and helping them through anything they may need help with vs trying to make sure everyone around me is satisfied while I’m not %100 okay with everything . It then can affect my work especially with my audience and I don’t want that to happen.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When i lost my job in 2023 for making the choice to miss work in order to arrange my God Mothers funeral per her request. I tried to do the right thing and let them know what was going on ask for time off, but I kept getting the run around and the counted all of my time off as inexcusable because she’s wasn’t a “direct family member”. Though I was able to proof it was a wrongful termination , that didn’t stop the pain , grief , and how I was going to push through to continue doing social media and take care of myself .
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes and No , I only say no because a hold back a lot of who I am out of fear . Who you see is me but I have such a fun personality that I tuck away but I feel it’s time to show more of who I am .
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Sharing my many talents , I still have time but I wish I had done it sooner .
