Story & Lesson Highlights with ShuTara Nicole

We recently had the chance to connect with ShuTara Nicole and have shared our conversation below.

ShuTara, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day starts with laying in bed about 10-15 minutes after my eyes open, asking god what does he want me to do today. After I receive my instructions I make a cup of tea and meditate on everything I’m grateful for. Followed by speaking out loud or journaling the things I need and desire at the moment as well a write affirmations. Then I wake my body up with stretching and a grounding session, then a 30-45 minute walk in the park. I start my days with me no matter what time I wake up.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is ShuTaraNicole and I’m the owner of Beauty Artistry and Beyond by ShuTaraNicole. What makes my brand unique is the variety of products and services we have to offer. We cater to your hair, body, mind and spirit. So rather you are looking to get natural hair services/products, or looking to get guidance and clarity for the next step in your life. I’m sure you can find what you are looking for here at Beauty Artistry and Beyond.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the harsh and hurtful influence of society I was young, brave and carefree. From a little girl I was always the bossy diva that had it her way or no way. But growing up in an environment that criticizes you for being authentic, slowly caused me to conform to the boring standards of society. After giving my 20’s and early 30’s to the ways of the world, now that I’m closer to 40 I have made my way back to who I was destined to be. Authentically Me. They push us towards the American dream however the American dream does not align with the lifestyle god has for me.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The greatest fear that has held me back my entire life is the fear of being great. Everything I do for myself and others comes from the heart, therefore I don’t expect much in return. I show up do what I do and disappear back into my safe haven. But thanks to my wonderful clients for sharing their life changing experiences with anyone who could benefit from my services. I have been able to see for myself the impact I have on those who are truly ready to receive what I have to offer. Which drives me to go harder without the fear of being great. Because ultimately it’s not about being great, it’s about helping and giving back to the people in the community.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
That is a great question and absolutely. What you see is what you get all around the board with me. The amount of energy it takes to be fake and pretend is greater than what’s required to be yourself. Plus you don’t have to worry about someone trying to expose you because there is nothing to hide. Be you, and if the people around you don’t like you for who you are, then change the people around you.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That if you are not living the life you desire or the life of your dreams then you are not living. From children we were programmed to be everything except what we wanted to be. And we were forced to choose from the options society gave us.
