We recently had the chance to connect with Taylor Gutow and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I started playing Mahjong with some of my close friends recently and I LOVE it! Getting to learn something new with the people I love makes me constantly smile. I love learning new things and keeping my brain active.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I started Yogees Yoga 4 Kids in 2006 because I saw a need for a space where kids could just be—no winners, no losers—just movement, mindfulness, and fun. I began teaching all over DFW, and the positive response from parents and educators sparked the start of something bigger.
In 2014, Yogees Yoga 4 Kids became a Registered Children’s Yoga School (RCYS). From there, I launched the official 95-hour Yogees teacher training program and I have been training new teachers ever since! We also proudly teach yogees in summer camps and in several schools all over the metroplex.
A motto I live by is:
Remember to think good things.
Remember to say good things.
Remember to do good things.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with both of my parents has played a significant role in shaping who I am today. From my mom, I inherited a sense of creativity, compassion, and a free-spirited nature. My dad instilled in me the value of hard work and the importance of committing fully to one’s passions and responsibilities.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are enough- just as you are. Your kindness, resilience, and strength will take you where you need to be.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would say that my children are my life. Watching my daughters grow into who they are has been the greatest joy for me, each daughter completely unique and amazing in their own way. Without my girls, I wouldn’t be the woman I am nor would I keep doing what I do. Every day, they bring me happiness, love, and laughter.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
My house is my sanctuary- this is where I practice yoga, meditate, become inspired, and so much more. I have poured love and joy into my house because it reflects who I am and what matters most to me.
