Tori Lewis’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Tori Lewis and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Tori , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Nature has been so refreshing. I love the outdoors. The birds chirping and the sun shining. I find so much peace in Gods creation.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Tori Lewis. I’m a Native of Dallas, Tx. I’m an encourager and community builder with a gift for making women feel seen, understood, and inspired. Through my brand Girl With a Story, we blend emotional wellness, faith, and real-life experiences into conversations, apparel, and initiatives that remind women they are more than their pain and their past.

What makes me unique is my authenticity—I’m not selling perfection, I’m sharing truth. Its not about just selling sweatshirts, it carries messages women can wear like armor, starting conversations that heal. I pride myself on creating spaces—online and in-person—where women can cry, pray, and respond differently to life’s challenges, making this work a movement, not just a business.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother. She has always shined the light on my ability to make friends easily. She always instilled in us to be kind, caring and helpful to others. She always taught me to never belittle, speak ill of others, or to kick others while they were down. My mom is a walking light. I’m happy to have been raised by someone so kind, thoughtful, gentle and most of all prayerful.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Girl, you have all that it takes. God has your future already figured out.. You won’t need to reach outside of yourself. Its all there. Give yourself time, because the journey is where you will find the jewels.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe you had to do a lot to succeed—and in some cases, that’s true. But I’ve learned that doing more isn’t always what leads to real success. Who you are matters more than what you do. Character, morals, and authenticity will always take you further. They build the solid foundation you can stand on. Stay true to the person God created you to be.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
The attempt to understand solves most of the problem. Just the mere effort, for just a moment, to imagine the shoes of another. It doesn’t mean you will like it or accept it, but it helps see the full picture in most cases.
