Today we’d like to introduce you to Wanda Math.
Hi Wanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up I always thought that I had to be in the healthcare field so I went to college and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2016. I was working towards becoming a physical therapist but I knew that my heart wasn’t in it so I found a corporate job after getting my degree.
After working full-time for a couple of years, in April 2019 I enrolled in the part-time esthetics program. My love for eyelash extensions began when I got them done for the first time. Since I worked in an office setting, I began investing in my everyday look which drove my passion to become a lash artist even more. I then realized that the beauty industry was where I belonged and I wanted to help other women build their confidence with eyelash extensions. After obtaining my esthetician license, I knew it was time to start Wandaful Esthetics so I signed a lease for my own salon suite in August 2020.
A year into growing my business part-time while working full-time at my corporate job, I realized I wanted to shift my focus on growing Wandaful Esthetics. I could no longer take on new clients so I knew I was ready and built the courage to quit corporate America to pursue my dreams in the beauty industry and run my own business as a lash artist.
Wandaful Esthetics has been growing ever since.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not smooth! Starting a business at the very beginning of COVID was tough. There were many bumps in the road but with the help of my husband and family, I was able to continue doing what I love. Growing your book of business and having to figure out everything on your own is a challenge. Running a business is not for the faint-hearted. I struggled a lot with self-doubt and imposter syndrome but I chose not to be defeated by the challenges and overcame them.

At Wandaful Esthetics, we specialize in Eyelash Extension services by maintaining the overall health and integrity of our client’s natural lashes.
We will also continue to grow as a lash educators to help other lash artists gain the confidence and knowledge to pursue their careers in the lash industry.
Right now, I can honestly say that I am most proud of taking the leap and quitting my job of 6 years to start my own lash business. My sense of purpose, ambition, hustle, and my genuine ability to make other people feel good about themselves is what sets me apart from others.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love about our city is the food! Whatever food you’re craving, you can pretty much find something in the DFW metro. My favorite is Korean food and I love that Korea town has so many choices for the best Korean BBQ.
The one thing that I don’t like about Dallas would be the traffic and tolls!
