Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Hernandez.
Hi Jade, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
About a year ago I told my mom that I want to be a model. Ever since I was a baby fashion has been something that drew my attention, the accessories, the mix and match of patterns and colors. At some point, I started to watch project runway and the way the models carry themselves (walk, pose) in the runway made me realize this is what I want to be.
My mom looked for a modeling schools where I could acquire the knowledge and skills in modeling. I got enroll to Bella Modeling School (Dallas location)
There I learned how to use my body to create my poses and the different styles of runway. My confidence grew and it’s like a switch activates within me when I’m modeling.
I graduated last April and had the opportunity to meet with the agencies in DFW area. After going thru the process of the interviews, Normita Joven gave me the opportunity and I signed with Icon Studios pursuing an acting and modeling career.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I got into model and photographers’ groups and from there I met photographers that were doing TFP callings and willing to work with me. I met photographers with different personalities and expectations; that has helped me understand what I eventually could face and of course be able to adjust to the situation. In the runway, Yemi Solomon gave me the first opportunity to experience the runway. She also introduced me to other people in the industry and met Normita for the first time.
After that I being in many other runway events like a back-to-school fashion and Asian fashion.
Now I started to work on my acting career and doing castings. I am working on my first commercial and hoping for many more to come.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a model, and I am known for being modeling, now I am working on my acting career. I am proud of my poses and that sets me apart from others in my age range. I just love what I do, I work hard to learn and perfect everything that I do.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I would say don’t give up, just keep trying until you make it. Try not to overthink it. There is an opportunity for you meanwhile be patient and work on you.
