Daily Inspiration: Meet Christine Copeland Ceo of Slushies Apparel & Styles By Nicole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Copeland.

Hi Christine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’m originally from Rockford, Illinois and moved to Dallas less than a year ago. I’m the CEO of Slushies Apparel Co & Styles By Nicole salon. I’ve been in the hair industry over 20 years.

I’m also a published author & my books are available on Amazon and local shops such as Tha Alkaline Hour.

Slushies Apparel was created mainly because me and my family love Slushies – I have one almost every day. One day a few years ago I thought it would be cool to see one on a shirt so we got a some logos created and started getting shirts made. My kids and a few clients were my models. We played with putting the designs on different color backgrounds and fabrics until we found what worked. Slushies became a variety clothing line with lots of variations that pop like pop art. The rest is history.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Moving my businesses to Dallas was very challenging and required much sacrifice. I left a huge client list and came here to hit restart.

It has certainly been a journey full of trial and error.

Designing Slushies didn’t seem difficult at first because my family and I are all artists. After that it was learning about printing, distribution, and which direction to go in to launch the line that is what took a lot of time and presented the most challenges.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is a bit complex. It includes being an entrepreneur, a fashion designer, a writer, and a hairstylist.

In addition to being CEO of Slushes Apparel Co, I am a published author of 3 books, and owner of VIP salon suite Styles By Nicole where I specialize in natural hair care, extensions, & braiding.

Most days I am either adding more style & apparel options to the Slushies online store, writing a new peice, or styling clients – sometimes all three.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was when I was about 6. I was crossing the street with my sister and ran across too quickly, got hit by a car, rolled backwards down a hill, and got up with barely a scratch. No concussion, no broken bones, nothing but scrapes from the concrete. That’s when I knew I was invincible and was meant to be here to be great. I didn’t know how I was going to do it – but I just knew.
