Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammi Bivens.
Hi Sammi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2011. My first company’s name was Tainted Rose. Tainted Rose sold jewelry, accessories, and apparel. I started Tainted Rose after graduating from college with a bachelor’s in marketing (2009) and realizing that I could not find a job in my field. I graduated from college with no experience. I decided to create my own opportunity. Tainted Rose served as a way to prove that I had marketing skills/knowledge while making extra money. Flashforward to 2015, I decided to move to Dallas to officially find a job in my field and I did just that! Around 2018, I decided that I wanted to get into consulting but never took action. Finally, in 2019, when I tested it out with my first client and I LOVED it. I loved helping an aspiring business owner bring her dream to reality. So in January of 2020, I decided to fully launch my digital marketing and business development company.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What could have been a challenge turned into an opportunity for me. 2020 was a really rough year for everyone, but with so many people finding extra time on their hands (hello quarantine) it helped me have a very successful first year of business. My biggest challenge now is balancing my business with my 9-5.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Digital marketing and business development are at the heart of what I do. I analyze each client to determine the best strategy that will work for their individual goals. No matter how large or small their business is, my number one priority is to help their business achieve the greatest possible success by providing the services they need at a reasonable cost. My target audience is women, particularly millennial black women who are tired of the many challenges we face in corporate America. Black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in the U.S., yet we are the least funded! I am happy to provide my services at a reasonable rate to help see aspiring business owners bring their vision to reality. What sets me apart from many is that not only do I understand the many pain points of being an entrepreneur, I also have the formal training of working in a corporate environment. I blend my entrepreneurial foundation, with my corporate experience and education to help bring success to each aspiring or current business owner I work with.
How do you think about happiness?
Operating in purpose and the call on my life makes me happy! For so long, I was simply trying to figure it all out. Now that I have tapped into my purpose, I finally feel like I have a path to follow. It brings me great joy to help so many people bring their vision to reality.
