Inspiring Conversations with Trevor North of Next 15 Podcast Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor North.

Trevor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started doing voiceovers for the City of Lufkin, Texas Parks and Recreation Department in my early 20’s. By my late 20’s, I moved to Houston, Texas and started volunteering in the Television Ministry Department at New Light Christian Center Church as a cameraman and broadcast director. In 2010, I left Houston, Texas and moved to Tyler, Texas and continued working in the Television Ministry for a local church, Family of Faith Christian Church. I worked as a Television Broadcast Director and started back doing voiceover work for church commercial announcements and podcast sermons. A friend of mine, Juan Aleman II, a fellow podcaster, inspired me to try podcasting in 2018. In 2019, I took a leap of faith in which “The Next 15 Podcast Show with Tre North” was birthed. I wanted to create a 15-minute podcast show covering random topics such as relationships, current news and everyday life issues. I wanted to be a voice for those who have faced challenges in life, whether that be in a relationship, raising kids, finances, etc.

During my first season of the show, I did pretty well with keeping the episodes at 15 minutes. However, as the topics got deeper, I slowly started drifting towards 15-20 minutes per episode. By 2020, I moved to Austin, Texas and partnered with a very close friend of mine, Christopher McAllister, who is currently the pastor of Life Changers Church and my cohost and began working for his Television Broadcast Ministry. The podcast quickly began picking up listeners in Austin, Dallas, and other surrounding Texas areas as well as in other countries. I decided to expand the podcast by adding a telephone line for live callers and the show quickly went from the 15-20 minutes to 45-60 minutes! By now, the Next 15 became the next 60. However, the Next 15 sounded so catchy, I decided not to change it! I also, use my platform to help up and coming businesses by doing free voiceovers to advertise their products and services. I have even had some of the owners of those businesses appear as special guests on show. This quickly became two-fold for me because it gave me the confidence to launch my voiceover company, which is to began mid February 2021. My goals for this year is to receive more monetization whether it be through fan support or voice overwork. I want to also use some of the revenue to work on special projects such as food and toy drives to help others that are in need. I would love to become active in the community by not only sharing my podcasts with others but to pay it forward for those who need a little help.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth surface to ride on! During my first year of podcasting, I went through an unexpected divorce, which cause me to put the podcast on hold after only starting three months prior. I had to relocate and start life all over again and I didn’t pick up a microphone until January 2020. At 47 years old, working full-time ministry and having been married for almost 11 years, this was definitely a life-changing moment. By late May of 2019, I was divorced and had moved to Austin, Texas where I was able to quickly get back on my feet and resume full-time work and part-time podcasting and voice overwork.

As a man of faith, I have truly learned how to truly trust God’s Word! Life is a teacher and a lesson not learned is a lesson repeated.

Next 15 Podcast Productions is a company offering voice over, video, and graphic design services. As a voice-over artist, I focus on voice-over production for businesses that advertise their products and services. Most of my work has been done for local churches promoting their events. Other work include voiceovers for businesses ranging from T-shirt, body products to referee services. While I am in the beginning stages of my business, I am known for my strong work ethic and my tenacity for working in excellence. I have over 20 years in voiceover, video and graphic design services.
