Hi Brit, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Haven + Flux in October 2020 because I was really looking for a candle that was super minimal, at a reasonable price point, and smelled amazing. I had gone through some hard stuff personally and moved back to my hometown, Reno, from Austin. I had been trying to figure out what my next move was going to be when I started pouring candles to help settle my mind and give me something to get excited about. Two weeks later I had to quit my job. Candles have helped me so much with my mental health, so I wanted to share that with others. I started donating $1 per candle to Mental Health America with the intention that each candle could help the customer’s mental health and someone else’s.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh gosh, no way. I have struggled so much with selling out of products and not being able to get raw materials fast enough. I’ve currently been waiting on my glass jars and lids for 2 months. They were estimated to arrive 3 weeks ago and I still have no idea when I’ll get them.
That along with the fact that it can be really hard to maintain relationships. You give your all to your business and you go through struggles and hardships of all shapes and sizes that other people can’t relate to. Especially the last 5 months, it’s been an upward battle. You can feel really alone as you power through having to pivot and adjust to circumstances out of your control.

Haven + Flux is an intentional candle line. We curate fine fragrances for your mental health. For every Haven + Flux product purchased, we donate $1 to Mental Health America.
We’re best known for our intentional candles, specifically our Calm candle. The fragrances are all tied to the intention of the jar. For every time you light your candle, you can read your intention and repeat the intention back to yourself. It’s a great way to get out of your own head. Sometimes you need an anchor to pull you back into the present moment.
I’m definitely most proud of the donation piece of the brand. Maybe not everyone needs a candle to help them be intentional, but regardless, our candles give back to the Mental Health community. Hopefully, someday we will be able to make really big changes for people who suffer from severe Mental Illnesses like schizophrenia and bipolar.
If I could leave people with one thing about our brand, it would be that Haven + Flux is more than just great-smelling candles.
What matters most to you? Why?
That people feel comfortable in their own skin. Showing people that with hard work you can achieve great things. Being a voice for people who cannot speak for themselves. I think people all have the capability to be great no matter who they are or what they suffer from. If I can help people see their full potential, then maybe the world could be a better place. I’d be honored if the least I could do in my life is give someone a small sense of calm.
