Meet Astrogiirl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Astrogiirl.

Astrogiirl, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started making music about four months ago, but I always had a passion for it. Growing up, I moved a lot and music was the only thing that made me feel present in everyday life. I remember before the internet was a major thing I only had 3 cd’s that I’d play on my karaoke machine, they were “My way” by Usher, “Creepin on ah Come Up” by BTNH, and Fearless by Jazmine Sullivan. I used to do covers of songs on the house answering machine and listen to them while my mom was out of the house lol. I was also in choir throughout high school and was a music theatre major but nothing felt more comfortable than when I started performing my own material.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has not been smooth. I originally wanted to start releasing back in April of 2018 but, things didn’t work out. It was hard finding a good producer and engineer with decent pricing for the quality I wanted. And doing things myself just wasn’t realistic for the image I had. Thankfully everything worked out in a way that I can’t do anything but be grateful.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Astrogiirl – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Well along with music I recently started curating “Somewhere In Dallas”. My first performance as “Astrogiirl” was on my own stage. It was probably the proudest moment I’ve had so far. I just love the idea of bringing creatives together in a comfortable, judgment-free environment. What sets apart from others is in not just doing this for myself, I’m also doing this for the possible success of my creative peers.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m the type of person that doesn’t look toward the future because the future is now. Hopefully, I can go far with my music and “Somewhere In Dallas”, but the now is pleasing enough. I do plan on releasing more music and putting together more showcases in the future, but only time will tell.
