Today we’d like to introduce you to Geri Perrault and John Bevan.
Geri and John, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My fiancé John and I started brainstorming ways to build our retirement together. After some research of the Granbury TX area we discovered there were many storage facilities here and they were all full. We were concerned about the competition but decided that we would build our top notch and offer a move in discount be ‘their’ competition and the people would come!
We contacted several building contractors and all gave us good pointers on how and what to build. We eventually decided to hire Rockin’ S construction to build our facility.
Google was our best friend finding our software. Months of research and reading reviews and phone interviews we decided on an internet based software and phone service. This software is also compatible with some electronic gate software companies that will control the payment and lockout status. Top of the line and easy to use for business owners and customers to rent up online.
We currently have two buildings and are designing and planning with Rockin’s for three more structures in phase two. These should be ready and available to rent by Autumn 2017.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We had a challenge finding the land to build as main highway frontage was costly and we knew we needed a good location with easy access. That brought us to a piece of land on Bob White Drive. As I recall, it was on the market for just a short time. This property wasn’t the most desirable because if the power lines running down the middle as you can’t build a structure under these power lines. In our case it was a perfect area for customers to drive and turn around and so we designed the facility using it to our advantage.
Please tell us about A&E Storage.
A&E Storage is a household, RV and boat storage facility on 5 acres owned and managed by John Bevan and Geri Perrault the facility is surrounded by 6-foot chain link fence with a secure slide gate, keypad entry and exit contactors. The entrance from the road is paved concrete and monitored with security cameras. The security system is a monitored IP system with a DVR backup system located inside the onsite office as well the household storage buildings are 5×10, 10×10, 10×15, and 10×20 all with roll up doors. The RV and boat storage will be covered 40’x12′ and constructed in phase 2. We are a clean well maintained secure facility with 24-hour access.
Our software allows users to select a unit and rent up online with an online account or within a 5-minute phone call.
We share the responsibility of running the business but primarily Geri does the office work, taking calls and making deposits and John maintains the property facility mowing and keeping weeds and trash off the facility.
We have a move in special that credits new renters second months’ rent 1/2 off their monthly rate.
