Meet Matthew Becker of BeckerTime in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Becker.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Matthew. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
BeckerTime was born simply out of a passion for collecting watches. In 1998, my father set out on his entrepreneurial venture to establish what is now BeckerTime. Within two years from BeckerTime’s founding, I moved to California to join my father in the business of buying and selling watches. Because my father and I were so passionate about watches, the business couldn’t help but grow organically. However, our partnership was cut all too short when my father passed away in 2004. Even more driven to keep my father’s memory and legacy alive, I focused all my energies on the business. Within a few short years, BeckerTime.com grew into one of the largest online retailers of luxury preowned timepieces.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every single business has challenges. Even after being in business for almost 20 years, we still have challenges. It’s all about finding solutions for those challenges so you can remain on a successful trajectory.

One of the most difficult moments I dealt with during our 20 years in business is when my father passed away. He was my partner at the time, so I lost half the business. That was difficult, because not only did I lose half the business, but I lost my dad who was my best friend. This affected me not only from a professional standpoint, but also a personal standpoint. Without a doubt that was the most difficult part of what I’ve had to deal with.

A year after his passing, we also moved the business from California to Texas. So, a lot happened that year. This was an extremely challenging year, but I learned that you have to do whatever it takes to make sure that your customers are happy. You’re selling good products and in the end, you just can’t quit. As I mentioned before, I took this difficult time and put that energy to good use by focusing on growing the business and furthering his legacy.

Please tell us about BeckerTime.
BeckerTime is a leading online retailer of preowned luxury timepieces, with nearly 20 years in business, tens of thousands of five-star reviews, and one of the largest inventories of authentic preowned Rolex watches in the world.

Since ecommerce has become the preferred way to browse, research, and shop, BeckerTime strives to make it easy for buyers to have the ultimate shopping experience.  To achieve this, we offer an extensive selection of authentic Rolex models with the best prices. We also provide personalized customer service that aims to deliver 100% customer satisfaction.  In addition, each purchase comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, as well as a Lifetime Trade-Up Guarantee for qualified items.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
As for the future of BeckerTime, we’re getting ready to celebrate our 20th year in business—20 years of business is a milestone for any company, and if you couple that with the fact that we started as an online company, it is pretty remarkable. It’s gone by so quickly but we’re enjoying every single day of it.
