Meet Monica Bencomo of Moms Wear Heels in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Bencomo.

Monica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my entrepreneurial journey by owning a restaurant with my husband for seven years in Albuquerque, NM, Pasion Latin Fusion. After having my first child, it became clear to me that I wasn’t happy trading time away from him to clock hours in the front of the house (I had been working 70 hours a week before giving birth). I decided to do something bold–to quit my role as FOH manager, and go all-in with my dream of inspiring women and moms to become their greatest versions physically and mentally. After starting my blog on, releasing my book seven Habits of a Healthy, Happy Mom, and sharing my postpartum fitness journey on social media, my career as a fitness and lifestyle coach took off. Soon, I was a regular on morning shows and had attracted thousands of women eager to learn my tools on how to lose the baby weight (and find themselves again) after childbirth. Now, expecting my third child soon, I’m able to stay home with my kids, homeschool them, and earn a great living as an entrepreneur.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, it has not been a smooth road–any entrepreneur that says so I’m not sure is being honest! I’ve learned a lot during my journey as an entrepreneur–much of what not to do as well as what to begin doing. From learning my worth and discovering what to charge, to learning how to juggle motherhood and business, I had to become resilient by getting over my perceived failures faster. I had to train myself to never give up on me. I had to learn that setbacks are a part of the journey–not a sign to stop or give up.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Moms Wear Heels is my fitness and lifestyle brand whose mission is to empower women and moms to live their best lives. What does that mean? It means I offer women tools to not only get their best physique but to also be the boss of their own lives. I’m most proud of the women’s lives I’ve been able to help transform–the messages and testimonials I receive help remind me why I do coaching. I’m also proud of being featured on some of my favorite media outlets including People, NY Post, Oxygen fitness magazine, and more.

My authenticity is what I believe sets me apart from other coaches. My community has seen my wins and my losses. From sharing how I overcame marriage struggles, life-threatening miscarriages, and business setbacks, my community has been with me every step of the way.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Moving here from Albuquerque was a dream come true–although I loved NM mountains, I missed seeing more trees! And here in the Frisco and Dallas area, there’s so much to do as a family–ever since we moved here my husband and I have taken the kids around the city to explore. We are never bored!
