Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Michelle Snowden.
Stylist Stephanie Michelle was born in Manhattan, New York and raised in Compton, California with her Jamaican mother and American father. Her parents worked in their respective careers during the day, and in the evening, they would come home and start creating new designs, playing music, singing, and teaching Stephanie their crafts. Her father was an artist, musician, and custom designer. Her mother came to America as a missionary. Sewing was a talent she had all of her life.
Together, Stephanie’s parents created wardrobes for the family and for clients. Stephanie helped with their creative process. It was during her childhood and early teen years her father taught her about music, pattern making, form & fashion, and many other artistic elements. Stephanie naturally gravitated to this, but she had a passion for teaching others how to look and feel good. Early in her childhood, her parents divorced but they remained friends, and Stephanie was raised in a loving environment. Early on, Stephanie Michelle was constantly being told she would make a “good nurse.”
Ultimately, her family convinced her to work in a “solid” career. Listening to what she was told all her life, Stephanie Michelle decided to go to school and be a nurse. She struggled through college and nursing school but eventually made it through earning her BA. Her entire time in school, she dreamed of working in beauty and fashion. She did not know in what capacity or how she would make money doing what she truly wanted. She kept many of her ideas to herself, not thinking anyone would understand she continued on her path of a profession in healthcare.
Stephanie Michelle worked in her profession for two decades and styled people for free because she loved it so much. As life moved forward, she got married. She and her husband had three children. Stephanie went back to school to earn her Master’s Degree in Health Administration. During that time, she realized she could no longer work in healthcare. She was not living up to her potential and professionally unfulfilled in life. This was also when she found out she was pregnant with baby number four also known as her surprise baby. At almost 40 years old, she felt like she had a second chance at life. She felt invincible.
After completing her Master’s Degree, she started to work toward her lifelong goal of becoming a stylist. She worked on productions and photo shoots, created programs, and wrote content for speaking engagements that led to her styling expertise. Eventually, Stephanie moved forward with working with other established stylists, designers, and photographers.
Overall, she begged God to guide her in the direction that she needed to go in. She told God, “You gave me a gift, teach me how to use it.” She is here today styling, working, and teaching others how to look and feel good. The little girl from Compton, California that was told she would make a “good nurse” because she liked teaching and helping people is doing just that but through style.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe styling is my gift and I was fortunate to grow up in an environment that nurtured that creative side of me. It took some years…decades to realize styling is not something that I do, its who I am. Now, the road to getting to where I am today has not been easy or without sacrifice. I have had to do jobs for free or work for very little. Work long, arduous hours, missing out on family events, lack of sleep, shedding many tears, and hearing a lot of No’s. What made everything possible for me was my faith in God and my unending determination. I was at a point where I would not make another decision if it was not directed by him. Today, my faith is so strong, and my possibilities are endless.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Styled By Stephanie Michelle – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am excited about my future plans. I am currently working on a show that will allow me to focus on designers (I can not give out too many details at this time), working on more productions, working with publications, continuing to style and teach clients about the Power of Style. I am always open to new opportunities and exploring possibilities. Also, focusing on obtaining my own style studio space. This will allow me to create the Ultimate client experience, hold shows, and have in-house photo shoots. Other changes on the horizon are new product developments and website upgrades.
“Increased drive leads me to a new focus allowing me to create a bigger vision”- Stephanie Michelle.
