Today we’d like to introduce you to Tre’ Louis.
Hi Tre’, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I moved to Dallas last year after graduating from Southern University A&M College. I became interested in music at a young age from tagging along with my father on his local DJ Gigs. That interest grew as I got older and I started playing the piano and audio engineering in middle school. Around high school (with the help of some amazing mentors) I became more comfortable and confident in putting myself out there as an artist. My senior year I got kicked out and went to stay with a friend in Prosper, Texas for a few months. I thought it was going to be like a “vacation” but his grandfather had us doing farm work (hauling barrels, herding cattle, tending to pigs etc). Those few months taught me a lot of discipline and also opened my eyes to the opportunities Dallas had to offer as a city. I went back home applied this mentality to my music and life. Since then I’ve built a solid fanbase through releasing multiple EPs and Singles. My recent project “Back Out The House” has helped me build a listenership in Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, and Atlanta.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been bumpy since the beginning. Being from Baton Rouge it’s not many major opportunities in a small place like that. It forces you to give 150% to get a 100% return (if that makes sense). As a teenager, it was just me and my friend Johnathan Palmer learning the business and how to deal with shady businessmen on our own. A few tried taking advantage of our lack of knowledge but we prevailed. When I was in college, I battled with not being able to put 100% into my music while pursuing a degree. I recently lost my grandmother to Covid. It’s a lot more emotional, mental, financial obstacles I could speak on. I’m thankful for them though because they add value to my end goal and give me real things to rap about.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a rapper, producer, audio engineer and songwriter. I’m known for and put most of my energy in rapping and songwriting. My word play, story telling, and introspective content set me apart from other artist. Taking the time to learn every aspect of my passion made me a better artist.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My perseverance, discipline, empathy and ability to be serious but not take myself too seriously.
