Meet Sharon Reese-Booker of Blue Dream Boutique in Grand Prairie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Reese-Booker.

Sharon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The idea of starting my own boutique was something that I first considered doing about 10 years ago, however, the timing just never seemed to be right. I was a single mother that worked and attended college full-time, so the thought of taking on another task seemed unrealistic. At the beginning of this year (2018), I decided to get together with a few friends for a vision board party. Before attending, I sat down and reflected on my life and what things I needed to accomplish that I had yet to set into action. One of the things that I added was to start an online boutique. Immediately, I began to set checkpoints/deadlines for myself to ensure that I stayed on track with my goal of becoming a business owner. In April 2018, Blue Dream Boutique came into fruition. Since then, I have been working hard to network and grow my business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting Blue Dream Boutique was not overly difficult. I spent a hefty amount of time researching things from how to legally start a business in Texas to finding quality vendors to purchase products from. Now, that my business has been established, the most difficult part of being a new business is getting your name out there. So, at times, networking can be a daunting task, but I’m seeing with my own eyes how it’s paying off.

Please tell us about Blue Dream Boutique.
Blue Dream Boutique embraces variety in fashion in an effort to meet the needs of the evolving woman. Our online boutique is a one-stop shop for chic and contemporary clothing and accessories. We pride ourselves on being able to help women look their best without breaking the bank, this sets us apart from most. Our pieces are unique and can fit the style of any woman. Most importantly, in addition to making women look great, we work hard to provide quality customer service and strive to make every purchase experience a great one. Lastly, since we love connecting with our customers so much, we frequently host pop-up events to allow our customers a chance to shop in person.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was when my best friend Deboraa and I would sit in her room singing Monica and Mariah Carey songs. We loved to debate over who would sing Monica’s part in the song The Boy is Mine.
