Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Peek.
Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have ALWAYS loved photography! Growing up in the military, I had the opportunity to see many places and things. Photographing my experiences along the way allowed me to express myself and document our nomadic journey… it truly became a passion!! Because photography became an extension of myself, I pursued an education in it and received a degree from Texas State with a BFA in photography. After college, I professionally began shooting weddings, families, couples, and portraits. It wasn’t until I modeled for a boudoir session, for a photographer friend, several years ago that I knew I found my niche. I was left with a completely different outlook of myself… I felt beautiful and confident, it was such an empowering feeling!! I wanted to pass that experience along to my clients… to allow women to fall in love with themselves and show them, through my work, how strong and beautiful they are! I create a complete experience for them, from beginning to end. It is amazing to see the transformation from self-doubt concerning beauty, relationships or body image to one of confidence, beauty, and self-love and get that ROAR back!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The decision to start over with a new clientele, from families and weddings (although I still enjoy shooting those sessions!) to boudoir, has definitely been a struggle. I am looking for a client that desires an exhilarating experience for THEMSELVES, a client who may not feel beautiful enough to step out of their comfort zone and schedule a boudoir session. I have also had to redefine what boudoir photography can be, there is a great deal of educating women. Unfortunately, there is a stigma that boudoir is not a “classy” or “appropriate” thing to do. But it is not that at all!! It is gorgeous and inspiring, it is empowering for women! No client is expected to be in tiny lingerie or nude (don’t get me wrong, I love those sessions!), but it is all about what they feel comfortable and gorgeous in. The WHY, for my business, is much more than a stunning end result of images (which they will always receive), but to find their roar of confidence, realize their beauty, be given the opportunity of this great experience and be pampered. Boudoir stands for this movement of self-love and owning your beauty! I also owe so much to the support I receive from my family, and my husband’s constant encouragement through my journey. So, yes, there are some struggles… gaining a following and locating my ladies!! But it is worth the struggle because it is something that I am truly passionate about, love and constantly supported and pushed!

My business is Brittany Peek Photography and I am the sole photographer. I am currently serving the Dallas/Fort Worth areas! I am known for and specialize in boudoir/intimate portraiture! I am excited and proud of so many things I have accomplished and pursued in my career so far. I love that I have been able to pursue my dream and passion… I feel this has helped me relate and fulfill the vision of each of my clients! I am so excited I found my niche and now feel I am where I am meant to be within the photography world. I have found a specialty that I am constantly inspired by, and therefore, can inspire others and create a positive change in their lives! What sets me apart from others is my passion and my WHY! I am truly inspired by boudoir and have the opportunity to create an empowering and amazing impact on others! By surrounding my ladies with a wonderful experience, I can help them see themselves in a beautiful way… to give them confidence, realize their beauty, and embrace who they are! And of course, deliver stunning, luxurious and tangible images that they will forever be able to hold and look back on to remind themselves of everything they are!
What were you like growing up?
My parents tell me that I was always an adventurous, creative, loving, emotional and very independent child (a lot in one kid!)! I believe that growing up in the military life shaped who I am today! It afforded me so many great life experiences and taught me amazing things about life!! One of the biggest: to accept and welcome changes. Some of my favorite childhood memories were being outdoors in nature… where I found a lot of comfort and happiness exploring life!! I have had a loving personality since forever!! Because I always wanted to save all the animals, QUITE A FEW were taken in and nurtured over the years! I can be sensitive and emotional at times, but I don’t hate that about me, it is who I am!! I am still strong and confident! Throughout my life, I have always needed and desired a creative outlet. I drew a lot when I was younger and found that love for drawing again while in college. One of my best memories was getting my first film camera. I couldn’t have been more excited! I was constantly shooting everything I found any inspiration in. I grew up family oriented and was taught to embrace what your talents and life offered. I believe the experiences of my life have made me the person I am today… a better person and photographer… not only for myself but for my clients!!
