Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Young.
Precious, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was little, I would watch my mother braid her clients hair. I just knew I was going to be like her. At the age of 15, I started braiding hair and doing makeup and other things that pertain to entertainment.
Once it became a thing, I set up shop in my mother’s basement. I had to have somewhere to do hair since I was attracting all these people who wanted their hair braided. I did hair in my mom’s basement for about three maybe four years. When I moved off to college, it slowed down of course.
Every now and then my roommate or someone from the college would want something done. When I moved back home from college, I was referred to work in a salon/barbershop. There were barbers and one other lady who did hair like I did. The business picked up even more once I committed to being in a salon and renting my own booth.
At the age of 21, I was taking over Omaha. I was considered to be one of the best braiders in my city. In October 2018 at the age of 22, I packed my car up and decided to move to Dallas to pursue my career even further. Doing hair has always been a side business for me. But I was able to depend on my hair business as my full-time job. I didn’t need to work an 8-5 because doing hair was working for me financially.
I am currently here in Dallas working up underneath a licensed cosmetologist Shan Marie Visions. I decided to take a partnership with her, and I couldn’t be any more appreciative. I’m learning new things and new tools. I’m learning how to manage natural hair. I’m happy I left my comfort zone because now I know I can do anything.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, there’s going to be bumps in the road. Moving to Dallas, I had to start all over with my clientele. Being new here I don’t know anyone, and no one knows me. But because I continue to be humble and I continue to be intentional, I know that’ll change very soon.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Precious Cheree – P.ChereeArtistry – what should we know?
I style natural hair, all kinds of hair, I love to call myself a braider. I’m an experienced braider who can pretty much do anything asked. I’m known to be me. I’m known to get the job done. I’m known for slaying!! There’s nothing I can’t do! I plan to take over Dallas as well.
Hair is not my only gift. I’m an aspiring actress. I majored in Theatre right after high school. Performing has always been a part of me. I can sing any melody, I can dance to any beat, and I can act. My senior year of high school I won 7 different awards.
Best female soloist, best actress, most likely to win a Grammy, most likely to be a reality to star and most likely to be a movie star. I’m known for being talented. They call me the triple threat.
You can book Precious for hair styling, full face makeup sessions through the website, Instagram and or Facebook, They can book me to be a Soloist for any event, choreographer for any music video or dance class, and also for any acting gig; commercials, shows, radio casting and etc.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mother Tiffany Alade has always been by my side spiritually, emotionally, financially and mentally. I know she’s my biggest cheerleader. My father, Laaron Young. He’s hard on me, and I thank him for that.
Because of them two I know I can do anything. My high school counselor, Mr. Wiley. He passed last year, but he was a remarkable man. He showed me the way.
To all my family and my friends thank you. I will see you on top.’
